Booking Through Thursday

“What’s the best ‘worst’ book you’ve ever read — the one you like despite some negative reviews or features?”

I am sure there is some better book out there, but I will go the fav bad book from last week, Twilight.

The writing is horrible, like a 13-year old writing in her diary. Going on and on, I should know, i have written things like that. I see parallels with other books, but no the author say she didn't even know about those books, movies or tv-shows. Some of the lines in the book made me want to hide under the covers, they were so cheesy that I almost died.

So why did I choose it, well it was so cheesy that it was cute. Puppylove with a vampire, so because of that I overlooked the bad writing and the oh so terrible lines here and there. As for the two books following, oh they are just bad, and the last one is just weird. Those I wouldn't pick for this answer.

Sometimes you need a really cheesy and bad book, and that book will make you enjoy the actual good books so much more.

  1. Thanks for visiting my blog! There's a fine line isn't there between a book just being really bad and a book being so bad that it's actually good to read! I really enjoyed Twilight!

  2. I didnt give it a bad review more a confused one as I genuinely couldnt decide if I liked or loathed this book, one of the first times thats happened to me. Bar The God of Small Things (complete polar book) which I ended up deciding was a master piece... still not sure on this one.

  3. Haha, this is probably one of my guilty pleasures as well :)

  4. Dot, there sure is, and I am glad she didn't cross that line to make it just bad.

Savidge, been there done that. I guess I went into it and decided it was cute. But the line was fine.

Marineko, lol, there are a lot of us out there ;)

  5. I feel the same way! Yes, they are terrible books but they can be entertaining.

  6. Hi again,

Thanks for the comment on my blog. I haven't seen True Blood so I am not sure how faithful they are to the books. In the books many of the characters have sex but the author doesn't go into detail except when it involves Sookie.

    Have a great weekend,
    Jess

  7. I haven't read the series, but judging by the excerpts I've seen that's my impression of the writing too :P Yet the story really hooks people, there is no denying that.

  8. I saw the movie and hated it. Ha!

Good for you for thinking of one!

    Thanks for stopping by :)

  9. Jess, hi again :)
Well since it's showtime..or was it HBO, there is a lot of sex, everyone is having at it, and they sure show all too. I just felt there was no story left in the end. I do think the books might be different then. I should check them out.

Nymeth, I guess most are a sucker of a Romeo and Juliet romance.

  10. Teena, first time I saw the movie I thought...cute I guess, 2nd time *yawn*

  11. I haven't read Twilight and probably never will, but I love your description: puppy love with a vampire!

  12. Oh, I don't know how you finished all 4 books! I read the first page and my brain exploded. :-) You should try The Sookie Stackhouse Southern Vampire Series (now there's a mouthful!) by Charlaine Harris. The tv show True Blood is based on them. The writing is cheesy and corny and very cringeworthy but my brain didn't explode. :-)

  13. Lisa, hehe thanks, I do think that description sums it up.

Mae, well i honestly speeded though the 2 in the middle, they were so boring. I tried to take it easy with the 4th book...didn't always work.
But thanks, I will check those out.

  14. This book was one of my guilty pleasures as well. I had to keep reminding myself it was written for the teen market after all. However, I happen to like many of the ya books out there. My post is up now. here

  15. I've avoided this book because of the bad writing and the "borrowing." I'm glad that there are those out there who love it even if I don't - reading anything is better than reading nothing!

  16. Robin, oh we all need our guily pleasures :D I still love this teenseries I read when younger, it first introduced me to fantasy.

Saveophelia, the bad writing and "borrowing" is very annoying, but I guess I looked past that. Trashy books can be fun sometimes

  17. haven't read it, don't plan on reading it but i'm glad you liked it- and you're certainly not alone!

  18. Marie, no, I guess not. At least I am not a total Twilighter, they always get annoyed when one disses the books

  19. I choose Twilight too and The DaVinci Code :)

  20. I'm glad you liked this series, but I'm just way too scared by the negative reactions to even want to get started!

  21. Desertrose, they are fun to read aren't they :D

Julie, I would be too cos if you ever do read, the writing isn't good, the 2 middle ones are so boring. But the first one is fun and cute

  22. Twilight was a fun book (one of my daughters loved the entire series) and I agree your description of it. Love the line 'puppylove with a vampire'! Thanks for visiting my blog!

  23. Joann, thanks for visiting back :) Glad you liked my line, lol

  24. I didn't mind the cheesy lines half as much as I minded the fact that, other than drooling over Edward, Bella has NO hobbies. Her hobbies apparently consist of parenting the adults in her life who are more incapable of caring for themself than a 17 year old is and reading books for school. I'm guessing that for summer break before moving to Forks, she just sat in the corner and hummed a lot or something.

Thanks for stopping by my blog!

  25. I feel the same way about a lot of books like that, though I haven't actually gotten around to reading Twilight yet. Maybe I should!

  26. Poppy, lol, you are so right. never thought about it that way.

Sadako, at least the first one is worth a try...and then you can read the end of the 4th one ;)

  27. I tried to get caught up in the craze of the Twilight series. I read the first one when I was told there would be a movie. I enjoyed it, but I have yet to pick up the second book. I don't think I'm a YA kinda reader. I did enjoy it. And I think for teens, it's a great book with a great movie to go with it :). Eventually I'll read the second one. I have it :).

  28. I never read it and have no intention of reading it. I guess being Stephen King's fans makes me disagree with Vampire and love

    ReplyDelete
  29. Amy C, I am not that big of a YA reader either, but it's fun with some cuteness once in a while. Well you can always read the second one if you see the new movie.
Still I think that was the most boring one of the bunch.

Novroz, lol, I on the other hand need my vamps to love and be loved.
