Bad News from Hilda at Dip-Files in China

Hilda asked me to tell you all that she discovered that blogger is a restricted site, and blocked by the Chinese Government. No access at all. She will try to find someone who can perhaps unblock some sites for her using other means. But until then no blogger at all, no posts, no comments, and she is truly upset about that.

I can belive that, I do would go crazy not being able to access blogger, and all my sites. So I hope you find someone Hilda to cheat your way into blogger. I wish you all the best! And I hope to see you around in a couple of days, or how ever long it takes to do just that.

Library Loot

Library Loot hosted by Eva and Marg
asks us to list what we brought home from
the library this week.

The Appeal by John Grisham
In a crowded courtroom in Mississipi, a jury returns a shocking verdict against a chemical company accused of dumping toxic waste into a small town's water supply, causing the worst “cancer cluster” in history. The company appeals to the Mississippi Supreme Court, whose nine justices will one day either approve the verdict or reverse it.
Who are the nine? How will they vote? Can one be replaced before the case is ultimately decided?

May not be so much looting for me now, I worked in the library this summer and got to all the goo stuff first, and did have time to look through everything. But now perhaps not so much.

  1. Poor Hilda, that must be awful. I would hate that.

I don't think I have ever read any John Grisham, so look forward to hearing more!

  2. I have a blog buddy in Canada, and she's long had problems accessing my blog. She can get through here and there. She calls it "the Great Firewall of China." :(

  3. Oh no! Poor Hilda :(

I wish my library was better stocked. They received a huge grant and built a new entryway instead of buying more books.

  4. Vivienne,
Never read Grisham, then I will tell you more in my review. I have read all they have here, some new one I am missing. I like them, have read them since I was little.

    Anna,
Not fun, but I liked her joke of it. Very funny. But yes it sucks. I would go completely crazy myself.

    Mandi,
Hopefully she will find a way!
Here they built a new library with stupid-ass windows. Well ok the old one was bad, still get more books and shelves

  5. Hi Blodeuedd!

Too bad for Hilda, that would really suck! China is so prohibitive of their country and people, so sad. They're afraid to let Western influences into their country, if the citizens can see what is going on around the world, there would be more unrest.

I love John Grisham, I've read a lot of his books, hope you enjoy them too. I haven't read The Appeal yet.

Our library did the same thing as Mandi's, they got a grant and refurbished the library. Okay, I know they needed to do it, it was leaky and stuff, and the grant was slated for library improvements. I just wish they'd get a grant for buying books. But, I'm still donating mine.

    Dottie :)

  6. Hi Dottie,
It's sad, they hide the truth what's going on in their own country and the rest of the world. And only show the people pictures they want to show.
And of course blogger is a big media so I get why that is forbidden.

I do like Grisham, the books are cool, but I like them most when there are lawyers. he has strayed and they were not as good.

Yes I do get why they need to fix up libraries, but some grants for money could sure be good too

  7. Wow, that really stinks. I would go crazy if I couldn't get on Blogger every day! I hope that she finds a way around it.

I have read most of Grisham's earlier novels (The Client, A Time To Kill, The Chamber) but nothing recently. I hope you enjoy it and I look forward to your review. :)

  8. Oh, B!!

I am so sorry to hear that... Poor Hilda!! I know she was stressed going to Shanghai and now not being able to access Blogger?

Please send her my best and if there is any other way I can communicate with her I'd love to.

I hope she can find a work around..

Oh and just saw that my other library has the new Evanovich...I will be checking if it's available every hour after this ;)

    Hi lea,
I know, she was very sad about loosing her followers and not being able to post what she wanted. But hopefully she will find someone. I would be totally lost but she seems to be knowing what to do.

    I will tell her so.

    Linda,
I do like Grisham, they are great, never thought courtroom drama could be that fun. You should give him a try one day

Thanks for stopping by kelly .)

  12. I can't imagine being so repressed!! Hopefully Hilda will find someone to help her!

I've read all of Grisham's older work and enjoyed it.

  13. Blogger Restricted?!!! That would be the end of my world!! Poor girl.

  14. I used to read a lot of Grisham. It has been a long time since I cracked open one of his novels. I did enjoy his writing.

I feel bad for Hilda...that is just so wrong. Send her my best.

  15. Poor Hilda! I hope she finds a way around it - bloggers can be a great support group, especially with such a big life change for her.

I've read some early John Grisham, but nothing recently. Looking forward to your review.

  16. Oh Blodeuedd, if there is any way you talk to her, please send her our thoughts her way. I know she was stressing about going there in the first place and now NOT to have access to the outside world... through the blog no doubt... sucks!

Our local library... the book section needs some work... but it shares between three in our parish.

I hope you had a great night and have a wonderful tomorrow!

  17. Staci,
Yes he is very good, and I haven't read him in a while so it will be fun. Kind of skipped that book that was real, and those that were not his usual style.

    VFG,
I know, so awful. So could at least access hotmail, I guess that was at least lucky.

    Wisteria,
    I shall.
I do hope he is as good as I remember, now I feel like trying him out at once even though I have many waiting.

    Patti,
So true, bloggers is sure a great place.
Same with me, I read his last one some years back.

    Cecile,
Luckily she can send emails through hotmail so that was how I could post this and make her feel a bit better.

Hope you have a great day today when you wake up, the sun is shining here so it looks like a good one

  18. Well, unlike you who hasn't read Connelly (which ironically you say isn't your genre), I have read Grisham. Why I say ironically is because the book I mentioned in my Library Loot this week is a legal thriller also. ;) However, it's been a while since I've read Grisham. I did like his earlier stuff, but I think like you, when he's strayed from his legal roots, he hasn't done as well, and I guess that has turned me off. That said, I will be interested to hear what you think.

  19. Justreading,
Aye I am strange. Cos it's not my genre, now idea why I like Grisham but he works for me. I like his lawyers who goes up against big companies, and it's his style that makes it not boring.
He is back on track so I hope I will like this one

  20. I felt you a 'gift' on my blog

I love clicking through to your site

  21. I would go a bit stir crazy not being able to access blogs.

I haven't read a Grisham book in years.

Thanks for participating in Library Loot.

  22. Marg,
    Grisham is cool :)
And yes wouldn't we all just go crazy

  23. Wow, that really sucks on China's part. I knew China restricted a lot things but I didn't realize blogger was one of them. I hope Hilda finds away through. Poor girl!

    ReplyDelete
  24. Donna,
I know, I knew they blocked a lot but for some reason I didn't think of blogger either. Which makes sense since they don't want people to blog about things that happen there

  25. I am very impressed with how consistent you are with your library books..

I live five minutes from my library and I rarely borrow books there.. I hate giving books back..

John Grisham.. I have read quiet a bit of his books.. I like his voice, he does alot of legal books but he does make it fun - ...

  26. EH,
I have loved the library since I was a kid. Happiest days ever was when someone took me there. It was far away as a kid, and now closer so love that. Even if my old one is still far away. I will never stop going there, I always find something I haven't read about.

I know, never thought legal books could be good but he makes it so
