Review: Kitty and the Midnight Hour - Carrie Vaughn

Kitty Norville is a midnight-shift DJ for a Denver radio station - and a werewolf in the closet. Her new late-night advice show for the supernaturally disadvantaged is a raging success, but it's Kitty who can use some help. With one sexy werewolf-hunter and a few homicidal undead on her tail, Kitty may have bitten off more than she can chew?

My thoughts:
Talk about coming to the party late. And then I looked at how many books are out and went all nooooooo! Yes there are A LOT of Kitty books out. I know that should make me dance around in lala land but it just makes me scared. I liked this one, but will I still like book 9, eh, I doubt it. Most books just seem to get worse with time. But I will still give it a go cos I am intrigued.

The whole premise is a bit, well Kitty Kitty, you are exposing everyone? One would think everyone would be out to get her. Still it was a cool way for her to have her show. I also liked her because she is learning to be kick-ass, but she is still a whimpering wolf when it comes to some in the pack. It was good to see her learn to stand on her own. Because she is both treated bad and good.

Sidekicks then, a cool werewolf hunter, pack members, a vampire friend (though these two races mostly hate each other). Everyone giving a bit of color to this book.

Conclusion:
And then it ended and I wanted more. I am curious about Kitty and what this will turn into.

  3. That's what first pulled me in to this series - Kitty isn't a strong werewolf in the beginning and I like her character development! Hope you stick with Kitty for at least the first 4 books. :-)

  6. Glad to hear you enjoyed this! I keep seeing fabulous reviews for later books in the series, and I am a bit overwhelmed like you, but still anxious to try it. Fabulous review!

  7. I'm with Mel... Kitty develops and that is the interesting part of the whole series. In fact she is still growing and is nothing like the scared wolf in the beginning. Some of the books in the series are hit and miss, but all seem to have a direction.

Kind of wish I would win them all ;)

  15. I still need to start this series, but yea, I'm kind of dreading having to read a huge series, and finding myself not enjoying it as much as the books go on. Will still give it a go, someday.

  17. I like Kitty, Blodeuedd. The best book so far is Kitty and the House of Horrors (I think that's what it was called), but overall the series is pretty average. Nice, easy, but not wow. I'd still recommend reading it though. It's one of the first UF books I've ever read. Ah, the sweet memories...

  23. I am with you Blodeuedd...this series has so many books I haven't picked them up yet. I see reviews when the new books come out and think, I really want to read this series! Then I actually look at the looong list and pick something else. If I am going to dive into a long series I want it to be gripping and make my heart pound.

    1. That is always how I think too. And if there is one bump in the road I give up. So I do have doubts I would make it to 11, and then how many more will be out by then 0_0

    2. And isn't there some huge cliff hangers in some of them? I just remember hearing some outrage over one, and something else that had people not wanting to continue the series. What was it...think, think, think.

    3. Yikes, I do not like the sound of that!

  24. You're not the only one to come late to this party. I read it for the first time a couple weeks ago. Loved! I'm looking forward to reading more books, but for some reason I have books later in the series, not #2 or #3.
