Burn Bright - Patricia Briggs

They are the wild and the broken. The werewolves too damaged to live safely among their own kind. For their own good, they have been exiled to the outskirts of Aspen Creek, Montana. Close enough to the Marrok’s pack to have its support; far enough away to not cause any harm.

With their Alpha out of the country, Charles and Anna are on call when an SOS comes in from the fae mate of one such wildling. Heading into the mountainous wilderness, they interrupt the abduction of the wolf–but can’t stop blood from being shed. Now Charles and Anna must use their skills–his as enforcer, hers as peacemaker–to track down the attackers, reopening a painful chapter in the past that springs from the darkest magic of the witchborn…

My thoughts:
Briggs is still an awesome writer so it does get a good grade, but...
honestly the book was kind of dull. Nothing happened and for a light book it moved so slowly.

Yes I do confess Anna and Charles has never been my fav couple. I did love book 3? though, but here again...eh.

Leah still sucks ass and I will always hate her. I guess we are supposed to feel sad for her since he does not love her but come on, she has been such a  bitch. No love is not an excuse.

So something is going on and the whole story leads up to this big revelation that seemed to be thrown together all the sudden.

Still a good book since it is the character that makes this series, and I like getting to know them all, and meeting Asil again, I really like Asil. The best part was near the end where he says two words and damn, chills!

But, it felt thrown together.

  1. I have to download this series on audio. I think that's the only way I can read them even though I own the first six. Sigh.

  5. Pity about the felt thrown together bit, but I know what you mean about a series and delving deeper into fav characters.

  8. I love both the series. I felt this one was a transition story to set up where things are going to go. There were several hints in this one that had me perking right up to see what comes of them.
Oh yes, Asil is a fav. :)

  11. I'm really sorry you didn't enjoy this story as much as I did. I love Charles and Anna. I like them more than Mercy and Adam.

    1. I did like it, I just did not feel excited about it. It was a bridge book to something else and I always expect fireworks. I think I like Charles more than Anna, and Mercy more than Adam, Mercy and CHarles would then be more fun lol

  12. So... I did like this one, I've always really liked Charles and Anna, but that whole convo early on about Bran and Mercy left a bitter taste.
