My thoughts on what I managed to finish:
I tried my best, I really did. I read 100 boring pages that were just plainly confusing. Then I tried to read more, then I tried to skim but I could not even skim! I could not be bothered to read almost 800 pages of this boring boring BORING book.
Such a disappointment, I LOVED book 1. Book 2 was not up to standard and this one I could not even finish. It reminded me of her fantasy book I tried to read and could not.
I had to check my review of book 2 and there I mentioned I was confused, but that it got better at the end. Still all I remember from that one is that I did not like it. I guess that last part swayed me.
Disappointing.

Spiritwalker #3
The circus arrives without warning. No announcements precede it. It is simply there, when yesterday it was not. Within the black-and-white striped canvas tents is an utterly unique experience full of breathtaking amazements. It is called Le Cirque des RĂªves, and it is only open at night.
But behind the scenes, a fierce competition is underway—a duel between two young magicians, Celia and Marco, who have been trained since childhood expressly for this purpose by their mercurial instructors. Unbeknownst to them, this is a game in which only one can be left standing, and the circus is but the stage for a remarkable battle of imagination and will. Despite themselves, however, Celia and Marco tumble headfirst into love—a deep, magical love that makes the lights flicker and the room grow warm whenever they so much as brush hands.
True love or not, the game must play out, and the fates of everyone involved, from the cast of extraordinary circus performers to the patrons, hang in the balance, suspended as precariously as the daring acrobats overhead.
My thoughts on what I managed to finish:
I caaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaan't! I tried listening to it and I have no idea what I listened to it, fell asleep or drifted off in my mind at once.
Fail!

Emma and Zack’s very first case draws them deep into the realm of the paranormal, and forces them to use their own supernatural abilities. But that leaves each of them vulnerable, and there are lines partners should not cross. As secrets are revealed and more women go missing, one thing becomes clear: as they race to save the victims, Emma and Zack risk losing themselves.
What I read:
Honestly I think it was the 1st person POV that made me DNF it, I was just all meh, bleh bleh skim skim, ok DNF. it's a library book, I do not have the time.

When a small crew of scoundrels, would-be heroes, deviants, and ruffians discover a map that they believe will lead them to a fabled sword buried in the barrow of a long-dead wizard, they think they've struck it rich. But their hopes are dashed when the map turns out to be cursed and then is destroyed in a magical ritual. The loss of the map leaves them dreaming of what might have been, until they rediscover the map in a most unusual and unexpected place.
Stjepan Black-Heart, suspected murderer and renegade royal cartographer; Erim, a young woman masquerading as a man; Gilgwyr, brothel owner extraordinaire; Leigh, an exiled magus under an ignominious cloud; Godewyn Red-Hand, mercenary and troublemaker; Arduin Orwain, scion of a noble family brought low by scandal; and Arduin's sister Annwyn, the beautiful cause of that scandal: together they form a cross-section of the Middle Kingdoms of the Known World, brought together by accident and dark design, on a quest that will either get them all in the history books, or get them all killed.
From what I read:
I just can't go on. Why torment myself with a book that I will not like more than ok anyway...
Reasons for DNFing it:
I read 200 pages, from those pages all I remember is...someone died. They thought about F**'ing, they f***ed, a LOT of erect peens, honestly I was swimming in erect peens. I read romance but here were more. Incest. Perversions and MORE erect peens. I guess it was meant to be all dark and gritty and yes it was but all I can think of is that damn, so many erect peens. I want a story.

Fantasy
The sun is setting on humanity. The night now belongs to voracious demons that arise as the sun sets, preying upon a dwindling population forced to cower behind ancient and half-forgotten symbols of power. These wards alone can keep the demons at bay, but legends tell of a Deliverer: a general-some would say prophet-who once bound all mankind into a single force that defeated the demons. Those times, if they ever existed, are long past. The demons are back, and the return of the Deliverer is just another myth . . . or is it?
From what I read:
I have tried to read it twice, and twice I have given up. I must just realize it wont happen. I really liked book 1, but here I just get nowhere. I hate the POV that it begins with and that is like the first 200 pages! So I will never make it past that.

Demon Cycle #2,
Fantasy
Cursed drove me NUTS. I dnf-ed it too. I'm usually fine with 1st person POVs. It was the constant present tense that killed me. Well, that and the constant wails of "I can't love him, it's too dangerous" blah. And I finished The Night Circus, but I didn't think it was the amazingness it was hyped up to be . . .
ReplyDeleteHm, I do think that was my problem too cos I can deal with 1st POV if done right. But here, her voice just drove me insane and I could not read any more
DeleteElliot's series was infuriating. So much potential, but every book had something that drove me nuts.
ReplyDeleteMy problems with Brent's series started with about twenty percent left of the first book, great start, terrible finish. Never moved on.
The Barrow did have a lot of peen, didn't it?
It just went down down down :/ And it made me sad cos book 1 was cool (but yes had issues).
DeleteI tried with Brett, but no, I just could not.
LOL, so many peens
To be honest, The Night Circus never really drew me in, I don't think I'll even try it.
ReplyDeleteLoved these DNFs :D I mean not the books, the actual DNF thoughts, haha.
With such endless seas of potentially fab books out there, we owe it to ourselves to DNF and be proud of it too, lol. And talking about it helps our readers not waste the time, maybe, when again, there's such an endless number of potentially fab reads out there, right? :)
I just wanted to try it cos people raved about it, but not worth it.
DeleteLol, I am glad you enjoyed them.
Before I did not post DNFs, but someone had a great post about them and I thought yes why not? I review books that I finished but did not like so why not these and tell people why
Loved first two books, so I'm sorry you didn't like them, Linda, but your reasons for DNFing The Barrow made me laugh :))) I have it on kindle so now I know what to expect!
ReplyDeleteDo try it, people love it, but for me. gods, all the PEENS! They were hitting me in the face and I had to stop lol
DeleteOoo I have had Night Circus in my tbr pile since release day. So sorry to hear it put you to sleep!
ReplyDeleteThe audio so did not work :/
DeleteI'm so sorry you had so many DNFs. I hope the next books you read are better.
ReplyDeleteThese are all from March forward so not that bad
DeleteI suspect The Night Circus isn't for me either.
ReplyDeleteIt was so dull
DeleteSome of these books I liked, others I totally agree with your assessment. Cold Steel is probably one I wouldn't like either, I was only so-so with the first book.
ReplyDelete~Mogsy
Then you would NOT like the 3rd part
DeleteCold Steel sounds great, hope you enjoy!
ReplyDelete..yeah I did not
DeleteOh thank god I am not the only person who couldn't finish the Night Circus. I was beginning to think I was alone!
ReplyDeleteFear not! You are not alone
DeleteI'm sorry they weren't for you but I'm so sad about the Cursed because I'm so impatient to read it and well I have it... I just hope it will be better for me.
ReplyDeleteMaybe you will like it
DeleteOk I couldn't stop laughing once I got to the " LOT of erect peens" comment!
ReplyDeleteAlso - seriously you started to fall asleep with Night CIrcus? That makes me sad since I want to read that one!!
Maybe it was cos of the audio. For me it SO did not work like that
DeleteOh well, looks like you gave them a fair chance. I didn't try The Night Circus - not one review appealed to me.
ReplyDeleteI just tried it cos everyone else loved it
DeleteBummer, I haven't read any of these and prob not going to but the abundance of 'erect peens' cracked me up ;)
ReplyDeleteThere were A LOT
DeleteAwwww. Maybe try Night Circus again.;) I liked it once I got past the first 80 pages.
ReplyDeleteGods no, maybe print like when I am 50
DeleteLife is too short to read crappy books.
ReplyDeleteTotally
DeleteGiggling at the thought of swimming in erect peens. *snrk* I just read something similar. There is more to relationships and love than insta-lust and constant hard-ons, people.
ReplyDeleteLol. Oh there were not relationships, there were just sex and lots of it, from all corners. It was like I was in a pRorno
DeleteI wasn't planning on reading any of these, but thanks for the heads up!
ReplyDelete;)
DeleteYes, romance is all well and good but it needs a story... and less of what you've said this contains. I'd recommend you give The Night Circus another go, paper/ebook this time, as it is confusing, I agree, but a lot less confusing if you read it yourself :)
ReplyDeleteThe thing with audio is I listen while at work, nap time. So I do get distracted a lot. And then it needs to be SIMPLE ;)
DeleteIt had something but yes the narrator, everything about it was just so not for me.
ReplyDeleteSometimes when you are that close, well you just read on.
Haha! I love your DNF reviews. :) I think I'm weird, I just love reading bad reviews of books, even of my favorite books -- just so much fun! And I'm still laughing re: "The Barrow" *snort*!!!
ReplyDeleteEh... Night Circus, I didn't even bother. It did not sound interesting to me.
I do like them too :)
DeleteHehe, well they were like flapping in my face
I've tried to read Stockholm Octavo, and everyone compared it to Night Circus, so I think I would have to agree on the DNF. (I DNFed SO).
ReplyDeleteI better not try that one then ;)
DeleteSwimming in erect peens, lol. Yeah, it's bad when ya can't even skim. I've had books like that.
ReplyDeleteJust too many peens
DeleteI have The Night Circus but I'm afraid to read it. It sounds so boring to me lol
ReplyDeleteBahaha - too many erect peens!
Karen @ For What It's Worth
It was, I do not know if print is better, maybe that is dull too
DeleteNot tried a one of them. Though Cursed is somewhere on the tbr lit. I wouldn't have expected a lot of erect peni from the one that was overflowing with them. Hmmm.
ReplyDeleteLots of peens, but not in a smexy way, but in a gritty dark fantasy way
DeleteI almost need to read it to know just what that means. lol I don't think I've ever read lots of peen in a gritty dark fantasy way. Heh
DeleteLol, it really does have to be read to be understood
DeleteBummer on them all. I've heard the second Peter's book is different with the POV's. Sorry to hear, but good to move on.
ReplyDeleteIt was just too hard to read it all :/
DeleteI am very glad I have none of these books on my TBR or wishlist Blodeuedd. I will have to try to do some DNF reviews now and then as well. I just keep thinking I will give them a second chance.
ReplyDeleteYou really should try them, I find them quite refreshing :)
