TSMT

Tell Me Something Tuesday is a weekly discussion post on Rainy Day Ramblings where Rainy discuss a wide range of topics from books to blogging. Weigh in and join the conversation by adding your thoughts in the comments. If you want to do your own post, grab the question and answer it on your blog.

April 3rd: How often do you actually start reading a hot new release the day it hits shelves?

Welll. Like never. It is very rare I get a book when it is out. It does happen and those times yes I have read it the same day. But most often I get my books for xmas and my bday, so that means I will often wait for those releases.

Also these days some of my favs are first in hardback! Which is beyond evil. I do not want a hardback! So I wait for print. Sighs. Cos no, I do not want an ebook either.

And if I am lucky to have a review book of something I read it before it is out.

Release day reads happen once a year if lucky.

                                                          Easter fun!

  1. I do get new releases but rarely read them the day before they come out.

  2. I wait for print too and I splurge on hardcovers only when for authors I really like. Like I ran to the store to get my copies of the Harry Potter books the day they were out. But that is the exception. Also, if King has something new I like to pre-order a hard cover.
    Great snow pic!

  10. Me too... aside from some ARCs for review, I'm lucky if I read a book in the year it comes out let alone the day it comes out!

  11. The only print versions I will by are hardcover. Easier on the old eyes. The rest I do audio or Kindle.

  12. I usually find myself so far behind on my review books that I barely read anything early or on time these days. Maybe I'll get to finish a release day book on time each week, but most of the time I'm playing catch up!

  13. I'm starting to prefer paperback copies myself! I don't mind ebooks, but paperbacks are my preference. I love having a physical copy I just grab and take with me, no charging necessary, and hardbacks are cumbersome and take up a lot of room on my shelves.

  15. I think I read non-review books on release day rarely. I did with Burn Bright by Patricia Briggs because I pre-ordered it with a gift card, but usually wait for it at the library or on sale (in paperback, yes). :)

  16. Back in the day, I used to review books for three different places, so I didn't have to worry about release day unless it was a different genre. Even then, I usually waited a week or so. Now, there's only 3 authors that I pre-order so I can get their books right away. Other than that, I usually wait so I can get bargain prices. Great topic! Hugs...RO

  18. Aside from the review books (or audiobooks), I don't do that often. I used to take the day off work when the new Anita Blake books came out and would read all day. Now I don't even read that series any more.

  19. I know I'm a week late to the post, but I had to comment on what a cute photo that is!

I used to do that with some books, but now, by in large, I either get the books for review (to include audiobooks) or I buy it on release day, but don't read it for a while. Most of my auto-reads I get for reviews ahead of times these days.
