December 11th: Book Disappointments of 2018

I guess all those I dnfed this Fall! But ok let me take a look and see which ones I really wanted to enjoy.

I had hopes for Muse of Nightmares by Laini Taylor since I really liked book 1, but it fell apart for me and was an utter disappointment.

I had read raving reviews of Keystone by Dannika Dark and was all yes! Another UF series to fall in love with and then blergh, not for me.

The City of Brass by SA Chakraborthy had me wanting to read it and then I read it and it was SO YA. And it was not even YA so what was up with that?

Grey Sister by Mark Lawrence was disappointing. Book 1 rocked while this one was utterly dull.

A reaper at the gates by Sabir Tahir ended up being so bad that bye bye series!

Iron Gold by Pierce Brown. What happened!!?? Nope to that.

Olympus Bound by Jordanna Max Brodsky. This series was so cool and fresh, until it wasn't.

And those DNFS are of course disappointments too, but at least with these I read them and gave 2s and 1s and swore afterwards and wished I had dnfed.

We had snow! Now it's gone

  1. I had a few disappointments too. Thank goodness I had borrowed them from the library and not bought them when I was tempted.

  8. It's always hard to talk about book disappointments, I could probably come up with an entire list but it always makes me feel bad :P

  10. Yes, there were a pile of DNFS for me this year, but there were also a few disappointments that I read all the way through. I think the biggest disappointments were the ones I highly anticipated and either hated or barely tolerated. It happens. :)

  13. You and your DNFs... Right now, I think my biggest disappointment was the new Fantastical Beasts movie! But bookwise, the Beginner's Guide to Necromancy series was a let down after I heard so many great things.
