TMST

Tell Me Something Tuesday is a weekly discussion post on Rainy Day Ramblings where Rainy discuss a wide range of topics from books to blogging. Weigh in and join the conversation by adding your thoughts in the comments. If you want to do your own post, grab the question and answer it on your blog.

February 26th: How have you learned to keep your TBR pile in check, or how would you like to control your pile?

It depends on what you mean with this question. Some put all the books they wish they had in their TBR, but I do not do that. All those wishlist books are books I might, or might not ever want.

SO yes TBR are only those books I own. Oh and I do not count ebooks. Damn kindle books, I used to dl freebies, but I almost never do now. They annoy me. Since if I do want to read them I have to try and find the file wherever that is and convert it to epub so f that. Ugh kindle.

Right, the books. 4 years ago? I decided to PURGE, and I did. I read and read, I skimmed and skimmed, I dnef SO many. I mean I am not going to read boring books, or ok books. Eh, give away.

But lately, eeek, I have been on such a audio run that they have started to pile up again. But it was nothing like before when I had like 200 unread books.

  1. For me my TBR is huge because its all the books I want to read!!! I pretty much read everything I buy for the most part. I rarely go after the kindle freebies unless its from an author I like to read.

  2. My TBR is the same - they are books I own and don't include e-books or audio books on my phone. I purged mine once years ago and need to do it again. It is out of control!

  4. I'm basically the same as you. Once I scaled back it felt so freeing and I have no desire to stockpile books again. I'm mostly sticking with the library now except from the book conference books I still need to read.

  5. I usually get books from NetGalley and keep that down to 5 out at a time. I win books and read those but my tbr pile isn't really big.

  6. Yes distinguishing between actual TBR and wish list books is important. What I find is all the newly published books I want to read keep adding up and unbalancing my plans! Purging is good!

  7. Yeah, I quit downloading freebies as well because I got burned too many times. I would start one and find out it was a Christain romance. Ugh. I got rid of the pile and donated them to the library. It makes it easier.

  9. I own an embarrassingly large number of books of all kinds that I haven't read yet. I have a backlog of ebooks, print books, and audiobooks that will take the rest of my life to try to get through.

  11. I have separate 'wish list' and 'TBR'. That TBR is huge because it does include so many freebies from when I went nuts and clicked on them a few years back. Now, I don't do that and I don't buy as many books, but use the library more.

  12. I will "buy" freebies if they look interesting, but I don't count them as part of my TBR and only have a few of them on my Kindle. I count books that I've gotten from publishers and ones that I've purchased.
