TMST

Tell Me Something Tuesday is a weekly discussion post on Rainy Day Ramblings where Rainy discuss a wide range of topics from books to blogging. Weigh in and join the conversation by adding your thoughts in the comments. If you want to do your own post, grab the question and answer it on your blog.

August 20th: Have you found a way to cut back significantly on your TBR pile?

With TBR I mean those I own (I know some include books they want to read, but how could I read books I might never own?).

DNF!

Yes that is way I found works the best. IF it doesn't catch my attention I will dnf within a few pages.

Honestly that is my best advice ;)

What more does one need, I do make mistakes and finish ok books, but for the most part, just give up, just give them away.

  2. Still need to find a way to do this. I just can't find it in me to quit regardless of how awful they are.

    1. It is hard, but think of all the crappy books and think of all the good you could have read instead

  5. I'm just more picky now a days. I read what I want, I hardly take requests anymore and don't click on all of the freebies.

  6. I wish I had learned to DNF a long time. It has only been in the last three or four years that I give up. It makes it so much easier.

  7. It helps me sometimes to just prune my TBR and get rid of books that I know I will likely never read. I just donated two boxes of books, so out of sight out of mind :)

  8. That really is good advice. I've also cleared out books that I am no longer interested in and I try to be good about not picking up every freebie or sale that crosses my path, too (still a work in progress, LOL).

  9. my tbr pile is so immense I'm as likely to get to all of them as I am to climb a mountain and like Mary above I do tend to be more picky now where as at first it was gimme gimme gimme :)

  10. I want to read and buy so many books, and then after a while, they lose my interest. So while my TBR will never be smaller, I find I'm okay with not reading some - maybe some day?!
