Short Movie Review: Wine Country

A group of longtime girlfriends goes to Napa Valley for the weekend to celebrate their friend's 50th birthday.

Director: Amy Poehler
Writers: Liz Cackowski, Emily Spivey
Stars: Amy Poehler, Rachel Dratch, Ana Gasteyer

1h 43min | Comedy

One would think with a cast like this that it would be funnier?
Sure it had some good moments, but it was not the funny movie I had expected.

Rather dry at times, like the wine they drank.

Recommend or not: Hard to say, if there is nothing better on, then yes.

October 1st: What are some spooky books you would like to read this Fall?

I never really seek them out so no idea!

  1. sorry it wasn't what you expected it kind of sounds like women's fiction only on film :)

  2. Amy Poehler can be a little over the top for me - it feels like she tries too hard sometimes.

  3. These are some of my fave actresses, so like you, I was expecting something a little different too. It did have a few good messages that I enjoyed quite a bit though. Hope you are doing well. Hugs, RO

  5. That movie didn't look very funny to me (despite the cast) so I skipped it.

Totally forgot TMST today lol I don't think I'd have an answer anyway.

    1. I am bad with horror so I skipped it.

And sigh, I expected much more

  6. I've never seen that movie.

I don't really change up what I read for the different times of year.

  7. I've found that movies with huge casts never live up to the hype (maybe that is just me). Well, never is a strong word, maybe rarely is a better word.

I never change up my reading either. I love spooky books all year round.

    1. You are right, too many famous people, not enough plot

  9. Yeah, I thought this would be funnier with the cast they had, but it wasn't. Too much improv I think. I feel exactly the same way, watch it if you have nothing better to see.

  11. I sort of remember that movie coming out - but I'm glad I didn't pick it up. I hate when a large group of funny people aren't funny.

I don't do horror, but I do like UF, Fantasy and PNR... does that count?
