TMST

Tell Me Something Tuesday is a weekly discussion post on Rainy Day Ramblings where Rainy discuss a wide range of topics from books to blogging. Weigh in and join the conversation by adding your thoughts in the comments. If you want to do your own post, grab the question and answer it on your blog.

February 4th: Do you take advantage of free chapter previews?

Nope.

Maybe I should, I mean a lot of times I know already from page 1 that it is a no go, so a free chapter preview would help. But, I do not know, it sort of feels like cheating. I just want to buy a book and hate or love it.

But I SHOULD check them out. Cos it sucks when you buy a book and then by page 2 you are already bored.

But then where is that free chapter? At the best part? Cos I want the beginning to see if I can slog through or not

  2. I publish a lot of excerpts on the blog so I guess that counts :)

  3. I never have. I'll read an excerpt but not an entire chapter.

  4. I don't really see the point of reading a preview.

  5. I don't bother either. I usually borrow from the library if I haven't tried an author before buying. :)

  6. I never bother with a free chapter. Even if they have them at the end of a book.

  7. I like to go into highly anticipated books with a blank slate, so I tend to avoid all forms of spoilers, previews and excerpts included :D

  8. I don't read chapter previews on new to me authors and series, but I will read the chapter review at the back of a book that is for the next in series.

  9. I think the free chapter is usually at the end of a book

  10. I don't bother either, but I really should...

  11. Right... what if the chapter is the only good part of the book? That would be annoying.
