April 14th: When do you know it’s time to DNF?

When the book SUCKS!

Honestly, it all depends. Sometimes I read page 1 and I am out! Sometimes I struggle a bit, and then I am out! Sometimes I am stupid and read it all and then I am angry. SO yes I do not always know when it is time, sometimes I want to be nice. Which of course is silly since I end up disliking the book more than I would have.

When it gets tough, I get going. There is no reason to keep on reading, if the first half sucks, is the rest really good then if it is good?

DNFing can be awesome. I'd rather read a good book, then a meh book

  1. Back in the day I would probably read at least half way through before ditching a book. Now that I'm much older, the patience string is probably 5-10 pages before I'm outta there!(lol) Hugs and stay safe, RO

  5. I so identify with what you have said. I do DNF although if I have said I will read a review book then I keep going even if its annoying me. I er.. skip a bit here and there!

  6. I usually DNF pretty early if I'm not feeling a book. However, I do try to hang in there until 30% if I can. If it feels like torture, though, I won't.

  7. Yeah, when a book is getting painful to continue, that's when I know I should throw in the towel...except I'm always too stubborn to give up :)

  8. I don't have a hard and fast rule about when to stop reading. I've stopped in the first chapter and I've stopped well over half-way. It depends on what the particular problem is.
But, I do DNF now when I never used to.

  9. I know it's time to DNF a book when I no longer want to pick it back up, or when I start complaining to my husband about the story/characters (because he doesn't care). ;)

  10. I think I would DNF more if I got the books from the library and no one wanted a review from me. But review books... I feel like I need to finish. oh well.

  11. I really need to dnf a lot sooner. I hate it when I spend time on a book that I just don't enjoy.
