11/16/2021 Do authors/narrators actions, political beliefs, etc impact your view of their work?

First, I have no idea about anything. There have been authors I do not know are male or female, and who cares, since it does not matter. No idea where they are from, but of course I usually guess US since I read in English ;)

And I really do not want to know shit, ugh, that ruins everything! I liked these Marion Zimmer Bradely books when I started reading in English. Now I would burn them if I owned them, god damn what a horrible human being.  I am glad she is dead is all I am saying.

As for narrators, oh I do not know anything about them. Nothing at all. Ignorance is bliss

11/23/2021vGratitude. What books/authors/narrators/bloggers are you most thankful for this year?

  1. I don't care if they have different views than my own. But it becomes a problem when they are mean, abusive or something like that and they let everyone see it. I've stopped reading authors for being mean for no reason.

  2. I'm like you, I don't know about anything about the authors, so yes, ignorance is bliss. But social media make it hard to ignore things...

    Have a lovely day.

    1. They just keep putting their feet in their mouths

  3. This is why I try not to know about an author's personal or political views, because art should be separate from the opinions of the creator. That said, if it leaks into their work, that's another matter. I read for enjoyment, not to be preached at.

    1. I do want to know, cos when I do know, they are out.
But yes if it leaks in, no thanks

  4. I pretty much know fairly little about authors. I don't go looking for drama.

  5. I'm usually in the dark, too, and so it has to be really big if I notice. I've refrained from reading if the author is a big asshole in RL. There's only one narrator I know of that ended up being disaster. Like I said, most of the time I'm in the dark too.

    1. Narrators are a big blank for me, since no bios, and I do not check

  6. I believe everyone is entitled to their opinion and it will not make me like an author better/worse for their political/religious etc views. What bothers me most is when authors become bullies about honest reviews then I'll never read them again.

  7. OMG... I forgot about MZB. I haven't read Mists of Avalon in forever... But I won't again.

  8. I'm ignorant of many issues, but if the author was flagrant enough for even me to notice then that is definitely a big enough issue to drop them.

  9. I'm glad she's dead lololol

I try to stay away from authors these days and I don't care about differing views but if something really bad pops up on my radar I'll stay away from them.

  11. I am okay if they have different political views from me. I don't like when I read about an author abusing others. T had no idea about MZB until I read this post. How awful!

  12. 😂 😂 I do agree, I don't tend to know controversy. But if I do know, it makes a difference for sure. I can't financially support those who's behavior is abhorrent to me.

  13. Same here. I do not know much about some authors I like. I do not research. Now if they are going to be loud and make a scene all over Twitter or GR...then I will avoid them. Like whats that author....tried to throw another author under a bus bc they had a similar title of their book.
