Rand al’Thor, the Dragon Reborn, struggles to unite a fractured network of kingdoms and alliances in preparation for the Last Battle. As he attempts to halt the Seanchan encroachment northward---wishing he could form at least a temporary truce with the invaders---his allies watch in terror the shadow that seems to be growing within the heart of the Dragon Reborn himself.
Egwene al’Vere, the Amyrlin Seat of the rebel Aes Sedai, is a captive of the White Tower and subject to the whims of their tyrannical leader. As days tick toward the Seanchan attack she knows is imminent, Egwene works to hold together the disparate factions of Aes Sedai while providing leadership in the face of increasing uncertainty and despair. Her fight will prove the mettle of the Aes Sedai, and her conflict will decide the future of the White Tower---and possibly the world itself.
My thoughts:
I read my other review of this book and found it interesting (here, I was very happy back then) I really liked Rand before, now, eh, he is so dark and, I guess just not the guy for me this time around. I am more of a Perrin gal.
No more thinking of that other review. What did I think here...? Some things happened that I had totally forgotten, it has to do with the Black Ajah. Good thing I read it again then ;)
I am craving the end now, oh how slowly this series moves. It sure shows when I have read all in a year. I am also discovering plotholes. Time is moving strangely. No time at all has really passed, still Rand has gone insane, Elayne is preggers and Egwene got a new personality.
Conclusion:
But it's a great series, even if we could have skipped a few books in the middle ;)
Cover
LOL! Ok so you can't see it that good but the woman in the back has some bad looking hooker make-up on, that and her boobs. So I get the impression that it's a brothel and he just could not get it up so he blew a hole in the wall and rushed out to curse at the sky.. ;)

I can't believe you are still with it! YOU GO GIRL! These books are monsters!
ReplyDeleteI will be posting review 13 next week, all while waiting for book 14
DeleteIt would be really interesting to see if I went back and read one of the books I read in the early days of the blog and wrote another review for it how similar or different the two would be. I think I was a lot happier in the beginning too - or at least not quite as critical:)
ReplyDeleteThese are the only ones I think I will re-read, but is sure is fascinating cos the tone of the other review was so different. But then I had waited and waited for that book and was happy
DeleteI agree with you on two points: one, this series is slow. Second, we could skip a few books in the middle. That is why I'm waiting for the last book to come out before embarking on a re-reading marathon and pick and choose which middle books to skip :)
ReplyDeleteLol, yes skip a few in the middle ;=D But I made it now in time for 14. So glad I managed to fit all in as I had forgotten things in the 15 years I have been reading this series
DeleteWow, long books and slow moving series. I'm not sure I could stick with it.
ReplyDeleteThe thing is, the first time around it was good. This time around, well not all work
DeleteI love your interpretation of the cover! :D
ReplyDeleteHihi, well it's true..ok not, but looks that way ;)
DeleteI have not read this series, and I thought from the cover it was a MG book..lol glad you are enjoying them!
ReplyDeleteLOL! I truly hate the covers in this series. The the boring UK ones are better
DeleteROFL! I can't tell you how much I love your reviews on these! I don't think the books can compare. Oh and your description of the cover!! I just love it. :D
ReplyDeleteThe cover is just so bad, I mean honestly. The guy must have been high..
DeleteYeah, you have a way to describe a cover of your fav series. Rand...like randy, right?
ReplyDeleteHaha yes randy Rand at the brothel
DeleteI am so not rereading lol. I just want to rinally read the ending.
ReplyDeleteHappy reading,
Brandi from Blkosiner’s Book Blog
Re-reading works sometimes, not always though
DeleteI love your description of the cover. Too funny.
ReplyDeleteHihi, thank you
DeleteNow I'm gonna think this every time I see this cover lol :D
ReplyDeleteLol, I am that evil and good
DeleteWith the series :) The first time, sure they are long, but it was new! :D This time around they are just loooong. But the first 4 still manages to be totally awesome
ReplyDeleteThis doesn't sound like my kind of read, but I loved your description of the cover. LOL
ReplyDeleteHaha, I am glad you did
Deleteone day, yes one day I'll try this author!!!
ReplyDeleteEspecially since you have the books
DeleteLOL about your cover comment. I can't wait to see what is going on with the Black Ajah, I'm sure nothing good is going to come from that.
ReplyDelete3 Days left!!!
We will find out soon enough :D
DeleteI haven't read this one yet. I've read the first 11 a few times, but I've been waiting on the final three. I recently finished book 4 for the bazillionth time, and loved it. I need to get to book 5 sometime soon.
ReplyDeleteI do love the first 4 :D And book 1 is one of the best books in the world!
