Review: Naked in Death - J.D.Robb

In a world of danger and deception, she walks the line--between seductive passion and scandalous murder... Eve Dallas is a New York police lieutenant hunting for a ruthless killer. In over ten years on the force, she's seen it all--and knows her survival depends on her instincts. And she's going against every warning telling her not to get involved with Roarke, an Irish billionaire--and a suspect in Eve's murder investigation. But passion and seduction have rules of their own, and it's up to Eve to take a chance in the arms of a man she knows nothing about--except the addictive hunger of needing his touch.

My thoughts:
Not the review to write after a long long workday, which also was mostly spent outside, in the strange May heat wave. But I will try to string a few words together.

Do I love Roarke now? No, I can't see it. He was all over here, did I get why he found her attractive? Nope. I never saw the passion or felt anything between them. Did I get why she went for him? God no. She was a cop, bad bad call there.

But it was not bad. Nope (even if I kept thinking of the show Castle), it was thrilling, suspenseful. I wondered about the killer. I wondered about Eve and Roarke (not that I cared much but still.) It was one of those books that are good, but that I still wont buy more of. It felt like a good one time deal.

  5. Sorry to hear you didn't like it that much. I've fallen to much behind with these and I'm trying to catch up this year.

  6. On the plus side, you really only have to read the first 15-20 maybe (if that) to get the most interesting parts of the story arc.

  7. I've never read any of this series and it's not been near the top of my must read list. Still don't think I'll rush to read it!

    1. Don't rush it. I mean I liked the story, but the characters, no I did not get them. They would have lowered the grade but I felt kind

    1. I did like that, I mean the story was good, the characters not so much. But it
's like this new show I started to watch. The main character is a total asshole, but the series is good

  12. The mysteries are amazing and the characters develop more and more in each book. Even though you won't be reading more at least you can say you read the famous Roarke now ;)

  19. You are SO right about this cover. Boresville. It sounds like there were a lot of issue with this, but the fact that this reminded you of Castle has me interested now. I love that show!

    1. You know, female cop, hot rich guy ;) Castle is just funnier but there was this Castle vibe over it

  20. I've come across many one hit wonders myself. I was always afraid of this series because it's set in the future. I'm skeerd of sci-fi. ;)

    1. There was hardly any sci-fi at all. I mean oh there was mentions of a space station and shuttles, but it was all low key

  21. So many people I know LOVE this series, and especially Roarke-me not so much :/ I'm glad to find I'm not the only one, and will NEVER have Roarke as my Book BF, or continue w/ this series. *High five*

  24. I am very sorry you did not really like the characters. This is one of my very favourite series out there. If you come to Holland, you can borrow my books, no problem. The covers are never exciting, but you do recognize them at a glance.

  27. The first book wasn't the greatest but I bought the audiobooks like 25 books in the series all at the same time as a bargain deal so I listened on even though I wasn't enamoured with this book. And it proved to be a good series. And yes the covers are not pretty at all.

    ReplyDelete
  28. That is quite the bargain 0_0

Hm...must check the library for audio
