This week's conversation starter:
September 12th:Favorite Comedy Books
I honestly do not have any. Maybe I do not read them? Back in the day when I still loved Evanovich I used to laugh out loud to her Plum books, but that laughter got stuck in my throat after 7 books. They are not lol worthy anymore, not even giggle worthy, not even smile worthy.

I also remember laughing to Bridget Jone's Diary. Hmm, maybe chick'lit hit my comedy nerve.

I guess in the end I just do not have any favorite comedy books. And I do not read nonfic about comedians either, dunno if they would make me laugh anyway. For me to laugh it has to be amusing, and those things I found here and there in books that are not always comedy books.

First time I met Luci. And I could not say no to those demon eyes

  1. Like you, I can't think of one specific comedy novel, however, I do like when humor is interspersed throughout, or there are quirky characters. When it comes to movies, I have quite a few faves because I enjoy laughter when I can get it. (lol) Happy Tuesday! Hugs...RO

  3. I can't think of any off the top of my head but some chick lit does make me laugh. I'm with you on the Stephanie Plum books.

  4. I took part in a summer reading challenge and one of the slots I had to read was comedy. It was hard to find something and when I decided on a comedian's memoir, I thought I nailed it. Except, their story only had a couple funny parts and the rest just made me feel bad for everything they'd been through. :\

  6. I've read a couple comedy mysteries that were pretty fun. I don't read much chic lit and I never did get into the Plum series.

  10. Comedy in books is hard...movies are better for that.

  11. I used to laugh so much over the Stephanie Plum books but then the jokes got old and I was not amused.

  12. I love humor in books. I read a historical romance series by Katie MacAllister that I think was meant to be comedy, too. I laugh a lot when I read Carolyn Brown's cowboy romances. Darynda Jones' Charley Davidsons crack me up, too. I'm sure there are others, but I don't think I've read just straight comedy. Oh, I haven't read Stephanie Plum series, but just read my first Evanovich for the Night & Moon series and it was funny.

    1. I think those are the ones I should have mentioned. Not straight comedy but comedy in them

  13. Comedy is such a tricky genre, because humor is so subjective, you know? The closest thing I can think of for myself is once in a while, I like indulging in SFF humor. But even then they can be so hit or miss.

  15. Have to agree with the Plum books. I stopped around 7 or 8 because nothing ever changed. I do love when a book makes me laugh though.

  16. Awww. Luci. He was so cute (not that he isn't still cute, but you know, kitten).

I don't read a ton of comedy books, but I do read a lot of romance with humor in them. Molly Harper, Eve Langlais and Shelly Laurenston/G.A. Aiken are my go-tos. There are some UF ones too like Darynda Jones and Ilona Andrews.

  17. I cannot think of any comedy books I like. I don't read them. Most of them don't make me LOL. I read The Virgin Romance Novelist a while back and that was supposed to be hella funny. My girlfriend gave it 5 stars for funny. I thought it was okay. I found the humor kind of crass and gross, just not my thing. Like you I read the Plum books but gave up. Got fed up of the neverending love triangle.

  18. I haven't tackled the Plum books, the series has gone on far too long. I haven't read Bridget Jones, but I loved the movie.

  19. OMG.... little Lucifer. LOVE HIM!!! While I don't consider them comedies: anything by Molly Harper makes me laugh. And of course the Charley Davidson series has a lot of humor.
