The rogue is back in town - Anna Bennett

Hide your daughters and your maiden aunts…Lord Samuel Travis is back.
―The London Hearsay, special society edition

Equal parts scoundrel and seducer, he’s returned to London determined to mend the rift with his older brother. All Sam must do is take possession of a tumbledown town house. A seemingly simple task, except the house is occupied—by an infuriating, whip-smart beauty who refuses to do his bidding.

Miss Juliette Lacey’s wallflower days are over. She has a plan to turn her eccentric family into the toast of the ton—but the devilishly handsome rake trying to oust them from their home thwarts her at every turn. How can one man be so vexing and make her simmer with desire?

As her attraction to Sam deepens, Julie’s problems grow—she may have, once upon a time, secretly shared a kiss with his honorable older brother. Suddenly, Julie’s caught between a rogue and a marquess, between passion and respectability. Torn between two brothers, what’s a girl to do?

My thoughts:
I guess a rogue needs love too. Mostly the rogues are lords or earls, here he is a second son with no money. What a wastrel.

Juliette lives with her uncle. In the two previous books her sisters found love, now she is alone and her uncle wants her to marry too. And he does seem to be loosing his marbles, like there were any left.
But I like Juliette, even if she fancies this guy who ugh, you will see.

Sam is the rogue. And yes he is a rogue. There is this incident with someone's aunt and, oh man, Sam! You need some direction in your life.

They meet when he is sent to throw her out of her home. But he stays, they talk, they flirt, they fall for each other. There is some drama with the brother that wants her out of the house of course. Other than that it is a story of these two, and about uncle Alistair. I do like him.

Conclusion:
A fun story.

I dared the Duke - Anna Bennett

Alexander Savage, the Duke of Blackshire, is known throughout the ton for three things: the burn scars on his neck, his ornery disposition, and the trail of broken hearts behind him. None of which would concern Miss Elizabeth Lacey in the least—if she weren’t living under his roof. As his grandmother’s companion, Beth is all too concerned with the moody and compelling duke. Incensed by his plans to banish the sweet dowager duchess to the country, Beth refuses to do his bidding. If Alex wants her help, he’s going to have to take her dare…and grant her three wishes.

Alex adores his grandmother, which is precisely why she must leave. A string of unfortunate incidents has him worried for the safety of everyone around him—including the dowager’s loyal and lovely companion, Beth. But the notorious wallflower isn’t as meek as she appears, and as their battle of wills heats up, so does Alex’s desire. He’s dangerously close to falling in love with her…and revealing secrets he’d rather keep hidden. How can he convince her that his darkest days are behind him—and that, for the first time in forever, his heart is true?

My thoughts:
I liked book 1 so I was curious to see how the next wilting wallflower got her man (oh, that name, what an ahole thing for a man to come up with and spread.)

Elizabeth becomes the companion of a dowager duchess. It's nice. Sure maybe she could get a better chance now when her sis married an earl, but Elizabeth is done with all that, and the name they were called.

I liked the duchess, I liked Elizabeth. They made a good team. And in comes the Duke. They argue, they banter (don't they always). She challenges him. He is annoyed and intrigued. And of course there is the drama. Someone wants him dead! Oh and he has issues from his childhood. So yes this is another pretty Duke, we already came to the conclusion they always are ;)

He fights of the attraction. She falls for him. And they lived happily ever after.

I so want a blurb for book 3 now, but they are none! So sad, I want to know who her other sis will end up with.

Conclusion:
A lovely romance.

My brown-eyed Earl - Anna Bennett

William Ryder, Earl of Castleton, is at the end of his noble rope. Not only has he broken ties with his longtime mistress, his mother has publicly announced her wish for him to marry a suitable young lady―if only to help him raise the twins left in his care. Hiring a governess should solve some of Will’s problems…but when he meets the candidate in question, he finds himself in an entirely new predicament.

Miss Margaret Lacey is brainy, beautiful, and, once upon a time, Will’s betrothed. But she bowed out of the engagement―and, since then, has never been the same. A tragic accident robbed her of everything, and now, at age twenty-three, her marital prospects are slim to none. Penniless but not without pride, Meg convinces the vexingly handsome Will to hire her for the job. What neither of them could have expected from this arrangement, however, is an attraction that burns stronger than ever. Are these two lost souls finally ready to be schooled in the art of love?

My thoughts:
A wilting wallflower meets an Earl and everyone lives happily ever after.

Meg lives with her uncle, they have no money, and he is believed to be mad. Therefore the wilting wallflower part. She is kind, looks after her sisters and wants to earn money for her family. And that is how one becomes a governess.

Will is an Earl who suddenly gets his cousin's twins to take care of.  I liked how he started to fall for her fast. And how he cared nothing for his matchmaker mum who thought she knew better.

They do their dance. She takes care of the twins, she likes them, she even starts to like Will (there is history).

Conclusion:
It was a nice romance, with some passion too. I do want to know what happens to her sisters too.
