Insurgent - Veronica Roth

One choice can transform you—or it can destroy you. But every choice has consequences, and as unrest surges in the factions all around her, Tris Prior must continue trying to save those she loves—and herself—while grappling with haunting questions of grief and forgiveness, identity and loyalty, politics and love.

Tris's initiation day should have been marked by celebration and victory with her chosen faction; instead, the day ended with unspeakable horrors. War now looms as conflict between the factions and their ideologies grows. And in times of war, sides must be chosen, secrets will emerge, and choices will become even more irrevocable—and even more powerful. Transformed by her own decisions but also by haunting grief and guilt, radical new discoveries, and shifting relationships, Tris must fully embrace her Divergence, even if she does not know what she may lose by doing so.

My thoughts:
Omg blah blah blah. Right so book 1 was ok-good, with world building that sucked. I never meant to continue but I needed an audio book and beggers can't be choosers.

Tris was a whiny B..child. She whined whined whined, honestly the whole book was about her whining. Yes I understand it was traumatic that Will died, BUT, hello your parents died too, cut the self-pity and think about them too. And it was not that the trauma of Will was the big thing either, no that was Tobias. How on earth these are in love I do not know. This was not a dystopian novel, this was a novel about a girl whining and thinking about her boyfriend.

Right so she whined and that is all that happened. I might have snoozed through a big part of the audio, nice falling asleep story.

Ha, I am still sure I am gonna read book 3 cos I need an audio book and sadly I guess I will go for that one. How I wish my library had some awesome audio books.

Conclusion:
Not really recommended

I had to laugh when you said the cover is boring too. Okay, so I won't be adding this one to my wishlist :)

Oh that is too bad, I have seen some rave about this series. My library has some decent audio books, but I wish the selection was larger.

This one was just okay for me. Look forward to what you thing about book 3.

Yeah, I was so over Tris and Tobias in this one. I wasn't sure what possessed me to pick book 2 up since I didn't even really like the first book, but I figured I'd give this series another chance. Ended up disliking it even more. But then of course, I had to finish up the trilogy. And strangely enough, I actually found Allegiant to be the best of the three. So I'm not sure if you personally would want to continue, but that was my experience! :P

;) Yes it was so dull. Book 2 syndrome, but then book 1 was never awesome

Blodeuedd said...

They do have some good ones, but I have found I do better with YA on audio, I can listen to boring ones even ;) While adult needs to be AWESOME EVERY SECOND

Blodeuedd said...

It will take me a while but will get going :)

Haha, just like me! And then I really should continue if you actually liked that one the best...interesting. And well it's audio, I need that for work..when I sleep, lol. Ok maybe I will not fall asleep

I heard the first book was also just barely ok and that the series just gets worse as it continues. I will definitely watch the movies and definitely not read the books! I hate whiney characters!

I haven't read the books I confess but I was curious about this on after seeing the movie but I'll perhaps wait for the next movie lol.

Anna (herding cats-burning soup) said...

Well boo. That's no fun. I've not tried her. Never really had her on my radar though I know a lot love this series. Ah well.

Lol B, falling asleep while listening is so not a good sign. Didn't they make a movie of this series?

Maja (The Nocturnal Library) said...

I know what you mean, this audio almost killed me with sheer stupidity, whining and boredom. I usually listen while I drive so falling asleep was not an option, but I was so so close.

Mary (Bookfan) said...

Oh well. I hope the third book is better.

:)) I've read the first and like the idea of the world a lot, though I'm not much into YA in general and I'm definitely not into Dystopia by large, lol. I want to give this a try and even finish the series someday cause I'm OCD like that and want to read a series start to finish unless it sucks terribly, lol.
But this was bound to suffer from the second book in the series syndrome, and I kinna think it sounds like it does. Sigh.

I liked more than you but still liked first better

hahaha, loved your review, Linda! :))) Glad I haven't continued with this series :)))

I actually liked the first book but this wasn't as good. But I know I'll read the next one too.

Sorry you didn't enjoy this one, but I've basically given up on this series. I'm not planning to finish it as Allegiant is apparently such a massive disappointment, which is a shame as this series seemed so promising. *sigh* :/

Blodeuedd said...

I have heard bad bad thing about the 3rd but oh well, something ti listen to

Blodeuedd said...

Lol, do that ;)

Blodeuedd said...

We can't love, or even like them all ;)

Blodeuedd said...

Hehe, so not a good sign. Yup they did. They even made her love interest older *eye roll*

Blodeuedd said...

Good, someone knows what I am talking about :D It was rather dreadful at times

Blodeuedd said...

We will see

Blodeuedd said...

I do want to finish just to see, cos yes I am like that too. And with audio I can do just that cos it's not like I have many options when I know that sadly YA works best for me while I listen

Blodeuedd said...

I did

Blodeuedd said...

Hihi, thank you so much

Blodeuedd said...

Just to see what happens

Blodeuedd said...

I have heard that, I will give it a chance and then move on to something hopefully better

haha, I'm sorry you didn't like this one. I've read the first and loved it. This ones been on my shelf for some time now. I should probably give it a shot.

Yeah, this was definitely a step-down from book 1 for me too (and I refuse to read book 3, so there you go).

Blodeuedd said...

I am sure you will like it if you liked book 1, as I was not that keen on book 1 either ;)

Blodeuedd said...

I really should not listen to it but, it will get my through the last of the work year and then maybe I can get other ones for the fall

Heidi@Rainy Day Ramblings said...

Ha HA! Too funny. I really didn't like the second book either, but I just finished Allegiant last week on audio and I actually enjoyed it, I was expecting not to after everyone told me they didnt like it. I hope it is a better listen for you.

Blodeuedd said...

Hm, you are the second one to tell me that, maybe it will be better or maybe not. We will see

BookaholicCat said...

I only read first book and after learning about the end of book 3 I don't think I'll read more. I'll watch the movies though. ;)

Blodeuedd said...

I will watch the movie too, but I heard about a change I do not like

Lyn Kaye said...

Can I get an A-MEN up in here??!! This book made me completely turn away from this series. It was one of the worst books, character-wise, than I have EVER read!

Blodeuedd said...

Lol, I am so glad people agree with me ;) Tris, omg, I so want to slap her

Teddyree said...

I liked this one but I thought Allegiant was a total bummer haha. Divergent movie was good :)

Blodeuedd said...

People seems to say so, I am curious

Carole Rae said...

Boo.

This made me laugh! She did whine a lot. I am interested to hear what you think of book 3 when you get there.

Blodeuedd said...

;)

Blodeuedd said...

That she did ;) Well I started it today and I am sure I slept through half of it

Anna said...

My daughter said the same thing, that book 1 was really good but she hated book 2. She did like book 3 though. Now she wants me to read them, so I probably will at some point. I've already seen the movie with her, after all. LOL

Blodeuedd said...

Oh book 3 was horrid, I was listening to audio but slept through most of it :/
