My thoughts:
Omg blah blah blah. Right so book 1 was ok-good, with world building that sucked. I never meant to continue but I needed an audio book and beggers can't be choosers.
Tris was a whiny B..child. She whined whined whined, honestly the whole book was about her whining. Yes I understand it was traumatic that Will died, BUT, hello your parents died too, cut the self-pity and think about them too. And it was not that the trauma of Will was the big thing either, no that was Tobias. How on earth these are in love I do not know. This was not a dystopian novel, this was a novel about a girl whining and thinking about her boyfriend.
Right so she whined and that is all that happened. I might have snoozed through a big part of the audio, nice falling asleep story.
Ha, I am still sure I am gonna read book 3 cos I need an audio book and sadly I guess I will go for that one. How I wish my library had some awesome audio books.

DeleteOh that is too bad, I have seen some rave about this series. My library has some decent audio books, but I wish the selection was larger.
ReplyDeleteThey do have some good ones, but I have found I do better with YA on audio, I can listen to boring ones even ;) While adult needs to be AWESOME EVERY SECOND

DeleteYeah, I was so over Tris and Tobias in this one. I wasn't sure what possessed me to pick book 2 up since I didn't even really like the first book, but I figured I'd give this series another chance. Ended up disliking it even more. But then of course, I had to finish up the trilogy. And strangely enough, I actually found Allegiant to be the best of the three. So I'm not sure if you personally would want to continue, but that was my experience! :P

DeleteI heard the first book was also just barely ok and that the series just gets worse as it continues. I will definitely watch the movies and definitely not read the books! I hate whiney characters!

DeleteI know what you mean, this audio almost killed me with sheer stupidity, whining and boredom. I usually listen while I drive so falling asleep was not an option, but I was so so close.

Delete:)) I've read the first and like the idea of the world a lot, though I'm not much into YA in general and I'm definitely not into Dystopia by large, lol. I want to give this a try and even finish the series someday cause I'm OCD like that and want to read a series start to finish unless it sucks terribly, lol.
ReplyDeleteBut this was bound to suffer from the second book in the series syndrome, and I kinna think it sounds like it does. Sigh.
I do want to finish just to see, cos yes I am like that too. And with audio I can do just that cos it's not like I have many options when I know that sadly YA works best for me while I listen

DeleteSorry you didn't enjoy this one, but I've basically given up on this series. I'm not planning to finish it as Allegiant is apparently such a massive disappointment, which is a shame as this series seemed so promising. *sigh* :/

DeleteYeah, this was definitely a step-down from book 1 for me too (and I refuse to read book 3, so there you go).

DeleteMy daughter said the same thing, that book 1 was really good but she hated book 2. She did like book 3 though. Now she wants me to read them, so I probably will at some point. I've already seen the movie with her, after all. LOL
