December 11th: Book Disappointments of 2018
I guess all those I dnfed this Fall! But ok let me take a look and see which ones I really wanted to enjoy.
I had hopes for Muse of Nightmares by Laini Taylor since I really liked book 1, but it fell apart for me and was an utter disappointment.
I had read raving reviews of Keystone by Dannika Dark and was all yes! Another UF series to fall in love with and then blergh, not for me.
The City of Brass by SA Chakraborthy had me wanting to read it and then I read it and it was SO YA. And it was not even YA so what was up with that?
Grey Sister by Mark Lawrence was disappointing. Book 1 rocked while this one was utterly dull.
A reaper at the gates by Sabir Tahir ended up being so bad that bye bye series!
Iron Gold by Pierce Brown. What happened!!?? Nope to that.
Olympus Bound by Jordanna Max Brodsky. This series was so cool and fresh, until it wasn't.
And those DNFS are of course disappointments too, but at least with these I read them and gave 2s and 1s and swore afterwards and wished I had dnfed.

We had snow! Now it's gone
I had a few disappointments too. Thank goodness I had borrowed them from the library and not bought them when I was tempted.
ReplyDeletei had borrowed many of mine too :D
DeleteI rarely stop reading a book but had a few DNFs myself this year.
ReplyDeleteI have no time for bad ones *coughs* most of the time
Deleteit's weird for the city of brass and sad because I loved it so much!
ReplyDeleteI have no idea what went wrong!
Deleteboo for disappointments yay for snow!
ReplyDeleteIt is gone!
DeleteBe still my heart, some of my favorites were your fails. Ah well.
ReplyDeleteI know! Sadness
DeleteSad about being disappointed!
ReplyDeleteaye
DeleteI expect so little now that my surprises were more of the good variety this year lol
ReplyDeleteKaren @ For What It's Worth
Yeah sadly expectations are evil
DeleteI liked Muse of Nightmares. The rest I haven’t read..... Oh well doesnt’ sound like I missed much.
ReplyDeleteI have no idea why I could not get into it
DeleteIt's always hard to talk about book disappointments, I could probably come up with an entire list but it always makes me feel bad :P
ReplyDelete~Mogsy @ BiblioSanctum
It did make me sad again!
DeleteSo much potential...and so many went down in flames. :(
ReplyDeleteAlas yes
DeleteYes, there were a pile of DNFS for me this year, but there were also a few disappointments that I read all the way through. I think the biggest disappointments were the ones I highly anticipated and either hated or barely tolerated. It happens. :)
ReplyDeleteIt does! There could have been more ;)
DeleteIron Gold was on my list too. Sighs
ReplyDeleteI haven't read any of the books from your list but I was looking forward to Iron Gold :(
ReplyDeleteIt so fell apart for both me and Carole
DeleteYou and your DNFs... Right now, I think my biggest disappointment was the new Fantastical Beasts movie! But bookwise, the Beginner's Guide to Necromancy series was a let down after I heard so many great things.
ReplyDeleteI didn't really like the first so I doubt this one will wow me :/
