Tell Me Something Tuesday is a weekly discussion post on Rainy Day Ramblings where Rainy discuss a wide range of topics from books to blogging. Weigh in and join the conversation by adding your thoughts in the comments. If you want to do your own post, grab the question and answer it on your blog.
February 4th: Do you take advantage of free chapter previews?
Nope.
Maybe I should, I mean a lot of times I know already from page 1 that it is a no go, so a free chapter preview would help. But, I do not know, it sort of feels like cheating. I just want to buy a book and hate or love it.
But I SHOULD check them out. Cos it sucks when you buy a book and then by page 2 you are already bored.
But then where is that free chapter? At the best part? Cos I want the beginning to see if I can slog through or not

I'm with you. I don't bother with them.
ReplyDeleteHear hear
DeleteI publish a lot of excerpts on the blog so I guess that counts :)
ReplyDeleteWell that you do! :D
DeleteI confess that I don't
ReplyDelete:)
DeleteI never have. I'll read an excerpt but not an entire chapter.
ReplyDeleteFinding excerpts on my own, nope
DeleteI don't really see the point of reading a preview.
ReplyDeleteI can see the point, but I do not want to
DeleteI don't bother either. I usually borrow from the library if I haven't tried an author before buying. :)
ReplyDeleteSame, I like the library for that
DeleteI never bother with a free chapter. Even if they have them at the end of a book.
ReplyDeleteI wonder why none of us bothers?
DeleteI like to go into highly anticipated books with a blank slate, so I tend to avoid all forms of spoilers, previews and excerpts included :D

I do like the same, I want to jump in, and fail or win
DeleteI don't read chapter previews on new to me authors and series, but I will read the chapter review at the back of a book that is for the next in series.
ReplyDeleteI never even read those :/
DeleteI think the free chapter is usually at the end of a book
ReplyDeleteI was thinking more online
DeleteI don't bother either, but I really should...
ReplyDeleteIt would make sense, but eh
DeleteRight... what if the chapter is the only good part of the book? That would be annoying.
ReplyDeleteNo thanks then, it would make mad
