My thoughts:
This guy was dark and someone that you really should stay away from, but BUT she is his light, the only light in his life and I was lost.

Lorelai saves a boy who is almost dead. She is 14 at the time (I mean yes she has help obviously.) He is the light in her life. Her brother is a bully and her even her father has resigned to his fate and is bullied. She really was a little mouse, and at the same time a lioness.

Ash has no memories of his past (in Newgate as this is the opening). And the beautiful angel that saves him is forever imprinted in his heart. She is the only goodness he knows.

But things can not go that well now can they. Boy meets girl and lives happily ever after...or not.

Then begin present day as they meet again. He had promised to save her! Why didn't he before now? And why is he this dark twisted man? I mean dark, so dark. The thoughts he has should make anyway shy away from him, but they are just thoughts. I know he loves her even if he thinks he can no longer love.

So he has to win her over and she has to try and see the boy he was. And I so wanted her to see that cos hello, he saved you!

The feels! The darkness! Poor man. It was not before the end I realised how much he had suffered.

Conclusion
A twisted romance about two people who want to feel again.

PS. I have only read 2 other books in this series, but I really should read more cos I want more dark men building a new life for themselves,

Narrator Derek Perkins
I think it was my first time with this narrator, but I liked his English accent, and his voice range.

Blurb:
The bravest of heroes. The brashest of rebels. The boldest of lovers. These are the men who risk their hearts and their souls-for the passionate women who dare to love them . . . He is known only as The Rook. A man with no name, no past, no memories. He awakens in a mass grave, a magnificent dragon tattoo on his muscled forearm the sole clue to his mysterious origins. His only hope for survival-and salvation-lies in the deep, fiery eyes of the beautiful stranger who finds him. Who nurses him back to health. And who calms the restless demons in his soul . . . A LEGENDARY LOVE Lorelei will never forget the night she rescued the broken dark angel in the woods, a devilishly handsome man who haunts her dreams to this day. Crippled as a child, she devoted herself to healing the poor tortured man. And when he left, he took a piece of her heart with him. Now, after all these years, The Rook has returned. Like a phantom, he sweeps back into her life and avenges those who wronged her. But can she trust a man who's been branded a rebel, a thief, and a killer? And can she trust herself to resist him when he takes her in his arms?

The Scot beds his wife - Kerrigan Byrne

Gavin St. James, Earl of Thorne, is a notorious Highlander and an unrelenting Lothario who uses his slightly menacing charm to get what he wants—including too many women married to other men. But now, Gavin wants to put his shady past behind him...more or less. When a fiery lass who is the heiress to the land he wishes to possess drops into his lap, he sees a perfectly delicious opportunity...

Samantha Masters has come back to Scotland, in a pair of trousers, and with a whole world of dangerous secrets from her time spent in the Wild West trailing behind her. Her only hope of protection is to marry—and to do so quickly. Gavin is only too willing to provide that service for someone he finds so disturbingly irresistible. But even as danger approaches, what begins as a scandalous proposition slowly turns into an all-consuming passion. And Gavin discovers that he will do whatever is necessary to keep the woman he has claimed as his own...

My thoughts:
It took me a week to finish this book, not that it was bad or anything, just...ebooks and me this last week have not gone hand in hand. The baby is way too curious about what is going on behind her. The text was tiny too. Poor book never got my full attention.

Gavin really hates his family name, like haaaaaaaate it. He hates his brother too. And that first chapter, damn, messed up family for sure. Though I feel he should forgive his brother and his brother should forgive him. So after a messed up childhood he boinked his way through the world.

Samantha is messed up too. She married a train robber. She ran away to Scotland and pretends to be someone else. Someone who is supposed to hate Gavin's family...

Oh they do clash. Guns a blazing. Tempers flair. Stolen kisses. These two are at each other's throats and not just cos they want to boink, but cos they do irritate each other. But at the same time want to boink. And then they fall in love.

Did I like how she handled one of her secrets...no...not cool. But it all worked out in the end.

Conclusion:
I do wish I had read his brother's book too, these guys are intense!!

The Highwayman - Kerrigan Byrne

They're rebels, scoundrels, and blackguards-dark, dashing men on the wrong side of the law. But for the women who love them, a hint of danger only makes the heart beat faster, in the stunning debut historical romance The Highwayman by Kerrigan Byrne.

Dorian Blackwell, the Blackheart of Ben More, is a ruthless villain. Scarred and hard-hearted, Dorian is one of Victorian London's wealthiest, most influential men who will stop at nothing to wreak vengeance on those who've wronged him...and will fight to the death to seize what he wants. The lovely, still innocent widow Farah Leigh Mackenzie is no exception-and soon Dorian whisks the beautiful lass away to his sanctuary in the wild Highlands...

But Farah is no one's puppet. She possesses a powerful secret-one that threatens her very life. When being held captive by Dorian proves to be the only way to keep Farah safe from those who would see her dead, Dorian makes Farah a scandalous proposition: marry him for protection in exchange for using her secret to help him exact revenge on his enemies. But what the Blackheart of Ben More never could have imagined is that Farah has terms of her own, igniting a tempestuous desire that consumes them both. Could it be that the woman he captured is the only one who can touch the black heart he'd long thought dead?

My thought:
At times I wondered if Dorian was too dark, too scarred. He really is effed up, and he is a killer. But, but his vengeance always had a reason! But he was a killer, BUT, those motherf***ers deserved it.

Yup Dorian spent his youth in prison, then he created a criminal empire.

Farah ran away as a child, she pretends she is a widow, and she works as a secretary for Scotland Yard.

Not two people that should know each other, but something ties them together, well an obvious thing as soon as you start reading. So, well he kidnaps her *facepalm*, but he has a good reason as she is in danger. And he is nice to her, he is just so effed up, awww, dang it, yes I like the effed up ones, you just want to hug them and make it better. Of course it would take this guy therapy and not just a roll around the sack to get better, but hey it's a romance.

Conclusion:
There is romance, passion, danger and hidden secrets. And then they lived happily ever after.
