Victorian Rebels #6
Historical romance
For review

My thoughts:
This guy was dark and someone that you really should stay away from, but BUT she is his light, the only light in his life and I was lost.

Lorelai saves a boy who is almost dead. She is 14 at the time (I mean yes she has help obviously.) He is the light in her life. Her brother is a bully and her even her father has resigned to his fate and is bullied. She really was a little mouse, and at the same time a lioness.

Ash has no memories of his past (in Newgate as this is the opening). And the beautiful angel that saves him is forever imprinted in his heart. She is the only goodness he knows.

But things can not go that well now can they. Boy meets girl and lives happily ever after...or not.

Then begin present day as they meet again. He had promised to save her! Why didn't he before now? And why is he this dark twisted man? I mean dark, so dark. The thoughts he has should make anyway shy away from him, but they are just thoughts. I know he loves her even if he thinks he can no longer love.

So he has to win her over and she has to try and see the boy he was. And I so wanted her to see that cos hello, he saved you!

The feels! The darkness! Poor man. It was not before the end I realised how much he had suffered.

A twisted romance about two people who want to feel again.

PS. I have only read 2 other books in this series, but I really should read more cos I want more dark men building a new life for themselves,

Narrator Derek Perkins
I think it was my first time with this narrator, but I liked his English accent, and his voice range.

The bravest of heroes. The brashest of rebels. The boldest of lovers. These are the men who risk their hearts and their souls-for the passionate women who dare to love them . . . He is known only as The Rook. A man with no name, no past, no memories. He awakens in a mass grave, a magnificent dragon tattoo on his muscled forearm the sole clue to his mysterious origins. His only hope for survival-and salvation-lies in the deep, fiery eyes of the beautiful stranger who finds him. Who nurses him back to health. And who calms the restless demons in his soul . . . A LEGENDARY LOVE Lorelei will never forget the night she rescued the broken dark angel in the woods, a devilishly handsome man who haunts her dreams to this day. Crippled as a child, she devoted herself to healing the poor tortured man. And when he left, he took a piece of her heart with him. Now, after all these years, The Rook has returned. Like a phantom, he sweeps back into her life and avenges those who wronged her. But can she trust a man who's been branded a rebel, a thief, and a killer? And can she trust herself to resist him when he takes her in his arms?

  1. Ooo, I can't resist dark heroes. And, I heard good things about this when it released. I really should get around to picking it up. *glances at towering TBR pile* someday soon.

  2. Oh my... reforming Dark Dukes! I love it... Like Duke of Sin by Elizabeth Hoyt?!

    1. Nothing beats Duke of Sin, but...this guy is darker and a darker past

    1. It was funny, but th Duke thing...yeah, not reeeally a Duke. But a Duke, but not really

  7. I love a mix of dark and light. Wonderful review. I think I want this one!

  8. I've always fancied the dark heroes.

  9. I love the sound of these characters. Glad you enjoyed it!

  10. Ooh some twisted love. :) I wonder what happened to him...

  11. I think I remember wanting to read these when the Highwayman came about b/c they are not light and fluffy. That darkness in the hero must appeal to me, too.

    1. I read that one so long ago. THen when I read the one before this one I had all forgotten how dark that hero was. But they talked about him there. I should re-read ;)

  12. I really like dark stories. This sounds interesting. I'm not usually big on historicals, but you really caught my eye with this one.
