Author Interview And Giveaway: Rosanne Bittner

Today I interview Rosanne Bittner. Welcome!

Hello to everyone at Book Gurl of Mur-Y-Castell!  I appreciate being asked to visit your blog and hope you will visit mine at www.rosannebittner.blogspot.com

1. Tell me about yourself.
I have been writing since 1979 and sold my first book in 1982.  That book turned into a 7-book series called SAVAGE DESTINY.  Now my 59th book, DESPERATE HEARTS (from Sourcebooks) is being published this month, and many of my backlist titles are now available again in print and as e-books.  Just check my web site for a list of all my titles and a one-click option for ordering – or visit Amazon.com.  I am a member of many historical societies, an officer in our local Coloma Lioness Club (a charity organization), Women Writing the West, Western Writers of America, Romance Writers of American and our local chapter of RWA. Next July Sourcebooks will publish DO NOT FORSAKE ME, a sequel to OUTLAW HEARTS and my 60th book.  I love this story and I know you will, too.  And OUTLAW HEARTS will be reissued in print and as an e-book one month before its sequel.

2. Tell us in a few words what Desperate Hearts is about?
DESPERATE HEARTS is the story of a Montana vigilante who falls in love with a young woman who arrives in the little gold town of Alder, Montana alone, and with no good explanation for why she’s there.  It’s an action-packed western romance and a wonderful love story.  You will love the read!

3.  I am going to go silly now ;) If I met Mitch at a bar, how would he try to charm me?
If you met hero, Mitch Brady, at a bar, he would charm you with his very handsome smile and you would immediately sense that this man has a great respect for all women.  And just looking at his beautiful physique would turn you to soft butter.

4. And how would Elizabeth turn someone down?
You asked how Elizabeth would turn someone down … well, she does turn Mitch down, several times, not because she’s not attracted to him, but because she’s afraid to trust him.  For reasons you will learn, she doesn’t trust any man, and because she is secretly running from the law, she is doubly careful and wary around Mitch, who is a vigilante.

5.  What makes these two so perfect for each other?
Mitch and Elizabeth are perfect for each other because each has experienced the loss of a mother in a tragic way – and each is virtually alone against the world.

6.  What are you working on right now?
You asked what I am working on now:  Well, I just finished and turned in DO NOT FORSAKE ME, so I’m sure that soon I’ll be working with my editor on edits for that book.  In the meantime I am already busy on my next project, which will be my first contemporary romance.  This book breaks a lot of rules when it comes to what genre to place it in because it involves so many different areas of interest, from religion to hot sex to an old-fashioned Indian romance, to suspense, to violence.  It’s a love story beyond measure, but the characters are not ordinary, and the way they meet in the very first chapter is really exciting and tense.  I have a fantastic title for the book but for now it’s a secret!

Thank you for taking time to read my post.  I hope you will visit my web site at www.rosannebittner.com and find out about all my books and how you can order them from my site with one click.  I hope you enjoy DESPERATE HEARTS and will watch for OUTLAW HEARTS and its sequel DO NOT FORSAKE ME next summer!

Elizabeth Wainwright is on the run. Accused of a murder she didn’t commit, she has no choice but to cut ties with her old life and flee West. The last thing she wants is attention, but when her stagecoach is attacked, she suddenly finds herself under the fierce protection of one of Montana’s famed vigilantes…whether she likes it or not.
Lawman Mitch Brady is sworn to uphold justice. He’s never met a man he’s feared, and he’s never met a woman more desperately in need of his help. Something’s shaken the secretive Elizabeth, but as he gets to know the beautiful city belle, he finds the only thing he wants more than her safety…is her trust. Elizabeth longs to give herself to Mitch, but when her past finally catches up with her, can she truly trust her life to the vigilante who’s stolen her heart?

Review: Paradise Valley - Rosanne Bittner

Maggie Tucker's life is forever changed when outlaws murder her husband, leaving her alone and lost in the wilds of the Wyoming Territory. She vows to find the men who killed him and who tried to destroy her spirit.

Sage Lightfoot, owner of a ranch called Paradise Valley, is hunting for three men who murdered his best ranch hand. When he finds Maggie collapsed beside an open grave, they embark on a life-changing journey along the famed Outlaw Trail. But a secret Maggie carries and a woman from Sage's past could destroy their fragile love.

My thoughts:
A brutal beginning, but then to have made life easy for Maggie would not have been right. It had to be brutal and leave her angry. It was the time.

Maggie is left with a dead husband and a thirst for vengeance after the outlaws hurt her too. Not something I want to happen to a heroine, but that she would have been left unhurt after something like that, yes not likely. But she was such a strong woman, she did not let it hold her down. She is also a true pioneer woman, ready to work like any man. At first I was a bit wary as her husband was dead after all and I knew she and Sage would find each other. But, a loveless marriage is nothing to cry over in the end.

Sage then, half Indian, owner of one big ranch and with scars of his own. A very colorful past that we learn more of. He is a good man, kind and strong. Now who would not fall for him?

It's a slow building romance as they both are scarred. But it also about the hunt for the outlaws and riding through wild country. Both animals and bad men out there. And with that it was different, because it showed the more brutal side.

Conclusion:
Love can grow in the most unlikely places.

Author Post and Contest: Rosanne Bittner - Thunder on the PLains

Today I welcome Rosanne Bittner to my blog. And at the end there will be a giveaway for a copy of her new book :) + info about her own celebration

Hello to Book Girl of Mur-y-Castell bloggers from Rosanne Bittner!  Just want to tell you to be on the lookout for the reissue of my western historical romance, THUNDER ON THE PLAINS, coming from Casablanca (Sourcebooks) this month!  I will be celebrating this reissue and the 4th of July all month long with a virtual party at http://rosannebittnerbookparty.blogspot.com/!  Come visit, and you might win a free copy of THUNDER and/or the grand prize of a Kindle Touch!

You asked for personal information – 3 “fun” things about Rosanne Bittner. Hmmmm.  Well, I know how to put a worm on a hook and take a fish off the hook –clean it, scale it, and cook it!  And for several years, besides working at full time jobs my husband and I grew 40 acres of asparagus.  I know how to plant the roots, and how to ride an asparagus picker and snap off the shoots at just the right size.  I know lots of things about asparagus and farming!

Surprised?  People think us writers just sit in little rooms in ivory towers and write to our hearts’ content.  How I wish! I was able to quit my regular full time job to write, but it takes a lot of time and work and perseverance to keep pumping out the books – and now I do a lot of book work for a family tool & die/mold building business – I go in to my office (where I also write) every day at 8:00 till 5:00 – just like everybody else, except I don’t need to punch a clock and am free to come and go – which is nice.  So, there is another thing you know about this writer – I am a part time accountant, and my “right brain” hates it.  Right brain would rather be writing!

You asked about my book being reissued this month- THUNDER ON THE PLAINS.  Set amid the building of the transcontinental railroad, this book is a great love story with a “to die for” hero (Colt Travis) who falls in love with a beautiful woman (Sunny Landers) who comes from a world of wealth and a lifestyle totally unfamiliar for Colt.  Colt is a rough and rugged scout, and Sunny has inherited a hand in helping fund the Transcontinental Railroad.  Although she and Colt are worlds apart in how they live, but that doesn’t stop the fierce physical attraction between them that turns into a hot love scene out on the Nebraska plains (you’ll love it!) – and into forbidden love that brings many obstacles into Colt and Sunny’s path to happiness.  THUNDER is one of my favorite stories.

You asked if it was hard not making Sunny and Colt’s road to happiness much easier.  Well, that doesn’t make for a page-turning story.  It’s the struggle to get there that keeps the pages turning and keeps the readers glued to the book, anxious to find out if these two will find their happy ending.  Unrequited love and the deep longing to be with the one you love above all else is great food for plot twists and for bringing out the tears in my readers.

I have always written in the genre of 1800’s America, especially the Old West and Native Americans.  I absolutely love America’s history, and the settling of the Great West brings a writer a wealth of ideas for wonderful, romantic, adventurous stores set against real history.  I have always loved stories about pioneers and Indians and how today’s big cities like Denver and San Francisco came from nothing but the discovery of a little nugget of gold.  It is amazing how fast this country was settled.  I think my love for the West and it’s grand landscapes and strong, brave settlers shines through in my books.

Colt was definitely the most fun character to write in this story.  I love my tall, dark, brave heroes, which makes the love scenes more fun to write, too!  I don’t know who would play Bo and Sunny in a movie.  I’ll let my readers do their own daydreaming on that one.

Next up is a brand new western romance from Sourcebooks next spring called PARADISE VALLEY!  It is set in Wyoming and along the famous Outlaw Trail.  Great hero!  You’ll love it.  Just watch Sourcebooks and my own web site at www.rosannebittner.com – and my blog at www.rosannebittner@blogspot.com for more news about the book and how I will be promoting it.

Meantime – be sure to visit my virtual 4th of July party and submit your name to win a free book or a Kindle!

Thank you Rosanne :)
