A curse unbroken - Cecy Robson

The preternatural world is changing. After a massive magical throwdown tore apart the established order, the dark elements are rebuilding their ranks unopposed. Celia Wird’s world is changing, too. She’s the mate of the pureblood were Aric, and his Warriors are honor-bound to protect her family as she and her sisters recover from unimaginable horrors.

Celia hesitates to reveal the true extent of the Wird sisters’ trauma, but they aren’t the only ones keeping secrets: Aric and the werewolf Elders are tracking a stone that grants limitless power. So is a tough coven of witches. Then Misha, a master vampire with his own plans for the stone, sends Celia after it. Can she and the vamps beat both the weres and the witches to the treasure before it falls into the wrong hands?

Fearing for Celia’s safety, Aric begs her to stay out of the hunt. What they don’t realize is that they’re the ones being hunted. But Celia’s ready to prove that she’s not easy prey.

My thoughts:
This book was not as brutal as the last one. Well with that I mean poor Celia was not abused as much as in the last one. But, poor girls, they still have to fight for their lives.

Everyone is still shaken after what happened. But life moves on. There is a mythical stone to find and something fishy is going on.

First, the end! I liked how this ended :) and it was Celia's last book, but I like how we left her. I am happy now. After all the struggles!! But then again, her sisterÅ› books are coming and I doubt bad things will stop coming after them.

There is action, romance, fear of heartbreak and promises of so much more to come. I do wonder what the big bad that is coming after them really is. Cos we have seen a lot of minions...lots of them! But what is the bigger scheme of things?...hm

Conclusion:
A good conclusion to Celia's story.

Angelbound - Christina Bauer

Eighteen year old Myla Lewis is a girl who loves two things: kicking ass and kicking ass. She’s not your every day quasi-demon, half-demon and half-human, girl. For the past five years, Myla has lived for the days she gets to fight in Purgatory’s arena. When souls want a trial by combat for their right to enter heaven or hell, they go up against her, and she hasn’t lost a battle yet.

But as she starts her senior year at Purgatory High, the arena fights aren’t enough to keep her spirits up anymore. When the demons start to act weird, even for demons, and the King of the Demons, Armageddon, shows up at Myla’s school, she knows that things are changing and it’s not looking good for the quasi-demons. Myla starts to question everything, and doesn’t like the answers she finds. What happened seventeen years ago that turned the quasi-demons into slave labor? Why was her mom always so sad? And why won’t anyone tell her who her father is? Things heat up when Myla meets Lincoln, the High Prince of the Thrax, a super sexy half-human and half-angel demon hunter. But what’s a quasi-demon girl to do when she falls for a demon hunter? It’s a good thing that Myla’s not afraid of breaking a few rules. With a love worth fighting for, Myla’s going to shake up Purgatory.

My thoughts:
I did enjoy this one (even if it had plot holes.)

Myla is just like any other teenager. She has her bestie, boy trouble, school sucks, and she fights to the death in the arena. Ok so there is the difference. She is also part demon and lives in Purgatory. Her mum is always sad, her dad is a ? and she meets this hot boy that thinks all demons should die.

I did feel she was too much of a teen at times. It was like the author tried to show us that she is just like us. But the thing is, she is not. She could never be. So the over the top I am a teen could have been toned down. Also Purgatory sure looks a lot like the US.

Also, why does she fight in the arena? Why does no one talk about what happened 18 years ago? Please, people would so talk. It's like the world is made up of two generations, 18 and 40. Why did the angels not step in 18 years ago? Why are there stupid games? If Myla lost against a bad soul then that soul goes to heaven, even if it was Hitler. That makes no sense. That could have been planned better.

Still, even with those things I really enjoyed it. The world was interesting, I wanted to know who her dad was and how it all would turn out. I enjoyed it...
