Review: Alpha - Rachel Vincent

The unscrupulous new Council chair has charged Jace, Marc and me with trespassing, kidnapping, murder and treason. Yeah, we've been busy. But now it's time to take justice into our own hands. We must avenge my brother's death and carve out the rot at the heart of the Council. It's not going to be easy, and loss seems unavoidable, but I have promised to protect my Pride, no matter what. With a target on my back and Marc at my side, I'm heading for a final showdown that can—that will—change everything forever. A showdown I'm not sure I'm ready for. But life never waits until you're ready.

Time for a short review :)

1.) Reasons you chose this book
I have read all the previous ones and of course I had to read this last book since I like this series. And I had to know what happens to all of them.

2.) Reasons you liked or disliked this book
It was a good book, some ass-kicking, sexual tension between Faythe, Jace, and Mark, the birds showed up again. Faythe learns about responsibility and there are some major conflicts.

What I did not like was that the end felt rather abrupt. Everything was suddenly wrapped up, and for me it did not feel like I got any closure. Especially not about her personal life and that was something I wasn't happy about. And I was not happy about...arghh, I can't tell you, but I was not happy :(

3.) Reasons you are recommending this book
I still recommend this series because it is awesome! Just the kind of UF I like. And I am very sad to see it end.

  1. Sorry it wrapped up in a less-than-satisfying way. So that's the end of the series?

  2. Abrupt endings bother me too! I haven't read the first book in the series yet, but I have been meaning to.

  3. It sounds like a good series, too bad this last one wasn't that satisfying.
    Nice review ;)

  4. Well, that's unfortunate, that you weren't happy with the last book in the series. :(

  5. Yes, I loved the book but the end was...I wanted more - to know what happened after; an epilogue or something :)

Still one of my favorite series though.

It was just so fast, and I felt like there were still loose ends.

  8. Perhaps those loose ends are the start of a spin off series? A new lead character? I haven't read this series but have been meaning too as it is somewhere in my TBR Mountain

My thoughts exactly, just something more! It was all so..sudden and not final since things could still happen

  12. I understand since its the end of the series so of course you'd want a satisfying end. This is another series that I do want to read someday if only I had more time.

  13. Oh I still need this one. I don't like the abrupt-ness of things. Oh, I need to get back into this series.

  14. Hopefully it won't end there, especially when the author finds out that you didn't like the way she ended it!! :) LOL!

  17. Now this was a fun way to review a book. Three reasons...it's a good way to be straight and to the point with a book. I might need to place this series on my TBR list...it's nice to see a series that actually has an end in sight since most of the other series on my TBR list are still being written.

For that I liked it, cos I am not a fan of those 20 book series, I want closure! ;)
And I do like this format, since I have reviewed those that came before I just do not have many things to say anymore
