Audio: Caught up in a cowboy - Jennie Marts

Rockford James was raised as a tried and true cowboy in a town crazy about ice hockey. Rock is as hot on the ice as he is on a horse, and the NHL snapped him up. Now, injuries have temporarily benched him. Body and pride wounded, he returns to his hometown ranch to find that a lot has changed. The one thing that hasn't? His feelings for high school sweetheart and girl-next-door Quinn Rivers. Quinn had no choice but to get over Rock after he left. Teenaged and heartbroken, she had a rebound one night stand that ended in single motherhood. Now that Rock's back-and clamoring for a second chance-Quinn will do anything to avoid getting caught up in this oh-so-tempting cowboy . . .

My thoughts:
Rock and Quinn were childhood  best friends and then High School sweethearts,, until he left for College and a  NHL career. Breaking her heart.

So yes he did leave and yes they should at least have tried to make it work. But then they were kids and idiots. It's more like he should not have broken it off and she should have fought for him.

Right so they meet again years later. He is nursing injuries and taking it easy.
She is a single mom (with the cutest kid!) and her ex, omg, omg I just wanted to hit that no good piece of work.

They are so meant to be, cos they should always have been together. They try to work things out, becoming friends, becoming more. Everything is easy and nice.

Until the drama, which I shall not mention, but arghhhh I wanted to kick some butt!

My thoughts
A nice romance about second chances. Some are just meant to be!

Narrrator Abby Craden
I liked her voices. And what I really liked is that even though I really upped the speed it still sounded really nice. Even when I upped it to 2x cos I was dying to know what was going to happen and I wanted to get to the end at once!

  7. Second chance romances are one of my favorites. Unless there is too much drama, but it sounds like it wasn't overshadowing the book. Nice.

  8. What is he doing on the cover? It looks like he's about to swing that post like a bat instead of using it for a fence (or whatever else posts are used for). Is that post relevant to the story? I'm not sure why I'm so fixated on this...

The story does sound sweet! I love when old love interests can accept that you have a kid and love them too!

    1. LOL.
But omg you are so right! He has a concussion and is taking it easy. Sure he helped a bit, but he sure was not going around digging and putting in fence posts

  12. I always have to up the speed. How can anyone listening to 1x I can never understand! It sounds too slow! 2x or even 2.2-2.5x sounds so much more like normal talking speed.

    1. Yay not alone!!! Everyone else seems to go so slow and I am all, omg under 1.5 and I would go insaaaane. I can do 1.5 if I am cooking, if I am doing nothing I up it
