Saturday Movie: Dope

Director: Rick Famuyiwa
Writer: Rick Famuyiwa
Stars: Shameik Moore, Tony Revolori, Kiersey Clemons |

A coming of age comedy/drama for the post hip hop generation. Malcolm is a geek, carefully surviving life in The Bottoms, a tough neighborhood in Inglewood, CA filled with gangsters and drug dealers, while juggling his senior year of college applications, interviews and the SAT. His dream is to attend Harvard. A chance invitation to a big underground party leads Malcolm and his friends into an "only in Los Angeles" gritty adventure filled with offbeat characters and bad choices. If Malcolm can persevere, he'll go from being a geek, to being dope, to ultimately being himself.

My thoughts:
Baby S had a bit of a fever after her vaccinations so we spent some time just watching movie (well fine I watched movies, she just chilled next or on me ;) I will not review Emoji, even though I know you all are dying to know what happens. But...sort of fun and she liked it.

Anyway, so that is why I did not watch my usual book based movies that are dull.

It's about this teen who LOVES the 90s, I actually thought it was the 90s before I saw everyone else. I liked him, he loved GOT, manga and was a geek. Geek power!

But then things went craaaaaaaaaaazy. I am not gonna say much, but things are insane and he and his friends try their best to get out of it.

I did like it, though I am not sure who I would recommend it too. It had humour, it was about teens, there is lots of violence and crime. It's just one of those that everyone might just enjoy.

  3. Nice, a character obsessed with the 90s! I'm so nostalgic for the 90s, I'll probably love that part about this movie.
