- BS from the author. Some are on my no list cos of that.
- I recently read about some Hitler romance something and was all hell no. So things that fit that.
- Books that just seems wrong, another one I came to think of is one where the girl takes constant abuse from her bF, and this is a romance...no. I do not need romance like that!
- Oh oh, books that are romance but do not give a HEA. That is not romance, please do not label it that. I can read that, but do not call it romance
- Honestly this is hard!
yeah I agree it's complicated
ReplyDeleteI did not think it would be but it so was
DeleteTotally agree about the romances that aren’t happy. They shouldn’t be romances. Also to the abusive relationships, and definitely the stuff that is twisted and wrong.
ReplyDeleteI can take a romance that fails, but then it is not a romance and should not be classified as that
DeleteOh no! Romance with no HEA, not on. I steer clear of books I suspect I won't enjoy. There is such variety, we don't really need to read every one of them.
ReplyDeleteWell put
DeleteI've put many an author on my no read list because of their BS on social media.
ReplyDeleteCliffhangers will make me not read a book too.
Just when I wrote this I saw an author that should go on my not buy list. He is an ahole towards women
Deleteheh I def don't like authors behaving badly, leaves me not really wanting to support their book
ReplyDeleteno happy endings in romance is though
When it is not romance tragic but works, but in romance, fu
DeleteI stay away from certain authors because of their behavior as well. I also tend to stay away from books labeled erotica since I don't generally care for them. It is hard!
ReplyDeleteI stay away from those too, Too much smex when I want more story
DeleteI avoid certain genres but that's just my personal taste. There are a few authors I won't read because of something they've done.
ReplyDeleteWhy give them money if they are aholes ;) SO yes
DeletePreachy books where all the author does it push their agenda. No thanks! I don't mind message fiction, but there has to be a good story too.

Oh yes, I do not like that either
DeleteI would say that list is pretty spot on with me. I also avoid love triangles and secret babies because I know it wouldn't go well. I think that is the big point. I try not to read what I'm pretty sure I won't like no matter how well-written it is.
ReplyDeleteSecret babies are so weird, I just get mad
DeleteI didn't do this one this week. I have so many issues that I steer clear off.
ReplyDeleteSeeing everyone else mentioning things sure have me remembering more
DeleteI feel like I need to do an investigation of every author these days. It's depressing.
ReplyDeleteYou pretty much hot all my steer clear things.

And now I found out that it was all lies the things I read. People are horrid
DeleteI will steer clear of authors who behave badly for certain! I also tend to steer clear of suspense, horror, cowboy/western romances. If there is a lot of drama for the couple. If it's billed as a Romance and doesn't have an HEA!
ReplyDeleteBut cowboys rock! 🤠🎸
DeleteAnd yes on all of those
Yes to everything you said.
