March 26th: What are things that make you steer clear of a book?

Hmmm, I do not know. I mean a lot of different things, I just need to think of some....

  • BS from the author. Some are on my no list cos of that.
  • I recently read about some Hitler romance something and was all hell no. So things that fit that.
  • Books that just seems wrong, another one I came to think of is one where the girl takes constant abuse from her bF, and this is a romance...no. I do not need romance like that!
  • Oh oh, books that are romance but do not give a HEA. That is not romance, please do not label it that. I can read that, but do not call it romance
  • Honestly this is hard!

  2. Totally agree about the romances that aren’t happy. They shouldn’t be romances. Also to the abusive relationships, and definitely the stuff that is twisted and wrong.

    1. I can take a romance that fails, but then it is not a romance and should not be classified as that

  3. Oh no! Romance with no HEA, not on. I steer clear of books I suspect I won't enjoy. There is such variety, we don't really need to read every one of them.

  4. I've put many an author on my no read list because of their BS on social media.

Cliffhangers will make me not read a book too.

  6. I stay away from certain authors because of their behavior as well. I also tend to stay away from books labeled erotica since I don't generally care for them. It is hard!

  7. I avoid certain genres but that's just my personal taste. There are a few authors I won't read because of something they've done.

  8. Preachy books where all the author does it push their agenda. No thanks! I don't mind message fiction, but there has to be a good story too.

  9. I would say that list is pretty spot on with me. I also avoid love triangles and secret babies because I know it wouldn't go well. I think that is the big point. I try not to read what I'm pretty sure I won't like no matter how well-written it is.

  12. I will steer clear of authors who behave badly for certain! I also tend to steer clear of suspense, horror, cowboy/western romances. If there is a lot of drama for the couple. If it's billed as a Romance and doesn't have an HEA!
