I liked this, it was Japanese inspired, filled with magic and a dangerous adventure.

Miuko grows up in a crappy little village, yes really, it is sort of cursed and dying. Not to mention that women are men's property and she dares to walk alone at times. The horror! Which ultimately does lead to her ruin, taken by a demon.

Then the adventure starts. She needs to find a way to stop the process. She does not want to be a demon. She meets some great characters on the way, like the best magpie spirit there is. Oh he was a hoot. An evil demon prince, a demon hunter, monks, spirits and more.

I liked her adventure, it really had a bit of everything. Danger, new friends and finding yourself. Power and a start of something new.

Great narration. There are so many different sort of characters and being and she does give life to them all in their own ways.

When a girl who's never longed for adventure is hit with a curse that begins to transform her into a demon, she embarks on a quest to reverse the curse and return to her normal life, but along the way is forced to confront her true power within.
