My thoughts:

First I must mention that the book was good, but there was something that made me really really mad. Leah had done something unforgivable. Of course there is a HEA, but I would not have forgiven her. Some things are not to be forgiven. Even if she thought it was for the better good. When I have that off my chest I can get on with the review.

Colt was around in the two previous books, but he is changed now. And in comes the lost love of his life. Yup he hurt her cos he was young and an ass. But he still loved her, he should have gotten a punch in the face and shaped up. Leah is mad at him still, and he wants her back. So the whole book is a dance between these two. He tries to win her affection and she starts to fall for him again. It's sweet and funny to watch.

I love small town romances. I love meeting old friends and watching these fight their way back together again. What I did not like was the THING. I hated that. It made me so mad.

Conclusion:

It was a cute book filled with passion and drama.

Oh and if you wanna know why I am mad?

SPOILER ALERT She was pregnant, ran away, did not tell him and gave the kid up for adoption. She gets to meet the kid every month. What does Colt get, nothing cos he does not KNOW. Ends

Review: A shot of Sultry - Macy Beckett

Welcome to Sultry Springs, Texas: where home can be the perfect place for a fresh start.

For West Coast filmmaker Bobbi Gallagher, going back to Sultry Springs is a last resort. But with her career in tatters, a quick trip to her hometown might get her the footage she needs to salvage her reputation. She just can't let anything distract her again. Not even the gorgeous contractor her brother asked to watch over her. As if she can't handle filming a few rowdy Texans.

Golden boy Trey Lewis, with his blond hair and Technicolor-blue eyes, is a leading man if Bobbi ever saw one. He's strong and confident and--much to her delight--usually shirtless. He thinks keeping his best friend's baby sister out of trouble will be easy. But he has no idea of the trouble in store for him...

My thoughts:

This is book 2, but as I was reading it I did feel that it also works great as a stand alone.

Bobbi is the heroine in this book. She was a bit messed up but she has learnt to cope. Her brother was the hero of book 2 and while he lives in Texas, she is a California film maker. She comes to Sultry Springs for a reality show. She is serious about her job (you'll learn) and she needs to let loose a bit.

Then we have Trey, a flirty guy who is friends with her brother. He has his own issues and wants to leave Sultry soon. The attraction is there at the start, sure they argue a bit, she tries to stay away as she is filming him. But some things you just can't stop. Some things are bound to happen.

Conclusion:

A nice story, a love that takes a bit of time. And a side character that I really look forward to reading more about. Book 3 is his and I want it. Sultry Springs is a good place to read about.

1. Could you tell me a bit about yourself?

MB:  Of course! I taught middle school for almost a decade before taking a “short break” to stay home with my babies. But in between feedings and diaper changes, I discovered a love for writing, so now I’m a full-time romance and YA author.

2. You have a new book out, Sultry with a twist. What is it about?

MB: In a nutshell, it’s about an Austin bar owner who’s forced to return to her tiny hometown for a month of community service under the supervision of her first love.

3.  What makes Luke the hero for the reader to fall for?

MB: Ooh, I love Luke. He’s surly and stubborn, but he’s got a heart of gold—he’s a hero in every sense of the word. It doesn’t hurt that he’s smokin’ hot, too. :-)

4.  These two have a history ( Luke and June), do you think the book was easier to write then?

MB: More fun to write? YES. Easier to write? NO! Because June and Luke had grown up together in the same house, they had a metric ton of back story, and it was a challenge to layer that in without slowing the pace. (It was worth the effort, though. I have a soft spot for reunited lovers.)

5. I see that more books are coming, could you tell me about those too?

6. What is the best thing about writing?

MB: It’s the ultimate form of escapism, even more so than reading. I get paid to do something I love…it doesn’t get much better than that!

Review: Sultry with a twist - Macy Beckett

When Mae-June July Augustine hightailed it out of Sultry Springs, Texas, with her heart in pieces, she swore she'd never return. But nine years later, one thing stands between June and her dream of opening an upscale martini bar: a month of community service under the supervision of the devilishly sexy Luke Gallagher, her first love and ex-best friend. As lust turns to love, June must decide where she belongs: in the glorious anonymity of Austin or back in Sultry Springs with the man who intoxicates her like no other.

My thoughts:

A contemporary romance set in a small town, insert a grandmother with a mission, and two young people meant to be. And there you have it.

Mae-June has not spoken with her grandmother in ages. Sure I got why, still I felt sorry of her gran who was all alone. June loves her job, she has plans for her future and she is an all around nice woman. Still fate (meaning her grandmother Pru has other plans for her). Oh Pru, I do like grandmothers who know what they want, even if she would be way to tough for me.

Sultry Springs, is a god fearing community. Not so many meddling old women around here (but you know that they are there). We do meet some of the church ladies and the priest. A nice cast for this book. Together with Trey, but then who is Trey? I am ahead of myself, but I will say that I hope his book is next.

The hero then. That would be Lucas, June's best friend, and the guy she has a crush on when younger. Now they are both suddenly older, but not always wiser. He has baggage and, well that needs to be worked through. But I liked him. He had been hurt, he has lost what he wanted. A good guy, even if that chip on his shoulder was mighty big. Oh and Trey's is his best friend if you wondered ;)

Conclusion:

A sweet romance about finding the love you always wanted.
