Miki Durand has always dodged the limelight. As the illegitimate daughter of a French movie star and a Russian billionaire, she craves a normal life—and it’s almost within reach. She’s up for a tenure-track position and has a perfect-on-paper boyfriend. What more could a woman want?
But when an unforeseen tragedy knocks her off cruise control, Miki finds herself leaving sunny LA for cosmopolitan St. Petersburg. With the fate of her father’s international business in her hands, she comes face-to-face with the ultimate temptation: corporate rival Jérôme Michel de Villiers. He’s everything she never thought she wanted, and their sizzling attraction soon sparks into an all-consuming flame.
Notoriously risk-averse, Miki knows it would be a gamble to fall for the sexy French playboy. But for the first time in her life, she’s ready to take a chance and let the chips fall where they may.
My thoughts:
Miki was very sensible. It all came from having a billionaire Russian father and a French actress for a mother. Neither settled down, both had their affairs and were in the papers. So she wanted safety, comfort and to know where everything was.
Oh what a boring life. She is rather dull, grey, has her handsome doctor (kudos for that), is set for a good life. But, he does not want what is best for her, he wants what is best for himself. But thank goodness, she does see the light. Duh. This is a romance after all. She is not gonna end up with a boring doctor who wants her at home, pretty and preggers.
So, you can see the cover. Miki lives for once. Shakes off the grey, understands that good does not mean boring. Meets a hunky playboy, and well, he is a playboy after all so.... There the drama lies, but it's not bad drama. It's real drama. Sometimes life gives you a push but love will win in the end.
Conclusion:'
A nice romance, passion, a bit of business and love.

Is there cheating in this one? Or does she leave her boring husband before meeting the playboy? Just curious:)
ReplyDeleteI will spoil it then but..well she meets him and realises that she wants more. So the ends it with her BF
DeleteProps to Miki for not settling, it pays to be picky especially where life partners are concerned.
ReplyDeleteCarmel @ Rabid Reads
True. She would have been miserable within months
DeleteLike the sound of the romance
ReplyDeleteVery true :)
ReplyDeleteWell as long as the drama doesn't overwhelm. Doesn't sound like it does. Hm.. I do think I could like this one.
ReplyDeleteNever, just normal stuff

DeleteOh yay. I'm looking forward to this one. I read one of her historicals earlier this year and enjoyed it :D
ReplyDeleteI have not tried those
DeleteSounds like the drama is well done! I think the cover seems to go very well with the story you described. :)

DeleteHmm I confess that I'm not sure about this one.
ReplyDeleteThink...super harlequin ...without babies
DeleteNot for me, but the premise sounds pretty spicy. My thought was also similar to the first commenter's...hmm, cheating? Well, sounds like she's proper even with ending/starting relationships.
ReplyDelete~Mogsy @ BiblioSanctum
In the end it was not that spicy to be honest
DeleteSometimes life gives you a push but love will win in the end.
ReplyDeleteROFL. Really? Perhaps in cheesy romance novels.
Ana do not be mean, TRUE LOVE EXISTS...in books
DeleteI love Mulry. I'm not one for rich people but her books are always good reads, super guilty pleasures.
ReplyDeleteI do not mind rich, as long as they are not, well stupid brats
DeleteI'd give it a try.

DeleteMost people would want that kind of life, but it sounds horrible to me.
ReplyDeleteTrue, I'd love it, but then again...
