UF Friday: Murder of Crows and Owl and the city of Angels

After winning the trust of the terra indigene residing in the Lakeside Courtyard, Meg Corbyn has had trouble figuring out what it means to live among them. As a human, Meg should be barely tolerated prey, but her abilities as a cassandra sangue make her something more.

The appearance of two addictive drugs has sparked violence between the humans and the Others, resulting in the murders of both species in nearby cities. So when Meg has a dream about blood and black feathers in the snow, Simon Wolfgard—Lakeside's shape-shifting leader—wonders whether their blood prophet dreamed of a past attack or of a future threat.

As the urge to speak prophecies strikes Meg more frequently, trouble finds its way inside the Courtyard. Now the Others and the handful of humans residing there must work together to stop the man bent on reclaiming their blood prophet—and stop the danger that threatens to destroy them all.

My thoughts:
I did like this one better than book 1, I had to read my first review and it seems I thought she was a speshul snowflake. I am over that now.

Mostly I was all, get it on!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Seriously, get it on! But then she is effed up, and he thinks she is meat. Ohhh, who wouldn't love that!
I so want them to hook up, I really like Simon. He call her his squeaky toy, awwww. He wonders why he even likes her.

Meg, she is tolerable I guess.

But I am in this for the story, and for Simon and for the rest! The Others rule, and why they stand humans I do not know. We just disappoint. They should kill all humans, they are really a waste of good Others space.

Oh...I have said nothing about the story, well Meg sees things, the blood prophets must be dealt with. Humans suck! Wipe them out!

Conclusion;
I'd read more for sure.
They need to get it on!

The Others #2
Urban fantasy
own

The wild second adventure for unforgettable antiquities thief Owl—a modern-day “Indiana Jane” who reluctantly navigates the hidden supernatural world—from the pen of rising urban fantasy star Kristi Charish. For fans of Kim Harrison, Jim Butcher, Jennifer Estep, Jenn Bennett, and the like.

Alix Hiboux, better known as Owl, international antiquities thief for hire, is settling into her new contract job for Vegas mogul Mr. Kurosawa, a red dragon with a penchant for ancient, supernatural artifacts. And now he has his sights set on some treasures of the mysterious Syrian City of the Dead that are sitting in a recluse’s private collection.

There’s just one wrinkle. To stop the resurrection of an undead army that could wreak havoc on Los Angeles, Owl must break into a heavily guarded archaeological sight in one of the most volatile regions in the world. A detour through Libya and a run-in with Somali pirates sends the clock ticking hastily toward total paranormal disaster.

Meanwhile, Alexander and the Paris vampires have stopped stalking Owl’s apartment, but they have by no means forgotten their death grudge against her. To top everything off, Owl finds out the hard way that there is nothing heavenly about the City of Angels...

My thoughts:
I was so happy to see this one on a site I buy my books from, since book 1 could not be found there. It was also really weird to read it after having listened to book 1. I found myself missing the narrator, also, so weird to see the names in writing! ;)

But let us begin.

Alix is hunting treasures for her dragon boss.
She is getting closer with Rynn, but still he is an incubi, can they really be happy?
Captain is the best cat side kick a girl can have!
Nadia is just there...poor Nadia, she needs to do more.
Carpe, well every girl needs an elf buddy to play online games with.

The hunt is on. She needs to find something. And the IAA is after her. It sucks to be her.

Conclusion:
This series is fun, great characters, action and humour.

  6. Something is off...too much action? I'm amazed by how Owl, a human, gets away with things. Oh well, it's a great adventure series for sure

  13. I think Murder of Crows was my least favorite of the series. Books 3 and 4 really pick up the story!

I want to read the Owl series.

  16. I do love The Others. I think it would be hard to go from audio to reading. I've never done that. I've actually got a few series I haven't finished because they aren't on audio. I still want to finish them, but hard to get the motivation to pick them up. Great reviews.
