I am going to be totally honest.
I do not like the cover, I did not want to pick it up cos of it
The premise does not sound like something for me.
Still, I heard good things and I picked it up, and I am glad I did! This was one weird story, and weird can be so good.
Senlin goes on a honeymoon with his wife to the tower of Babel. He thinks he will see the most wonderful thing in the world. The truth is that the tower of Babel is Hell on earth, and Heaven. Until it turns to Hell. I would not go there.
He looses his wife. Yes we barely even meet Marya. And every place in the tower and outside is a kingdom to itself so finding her is like finding a needle in a skyscraper.
The he has adventures as he slowly makes his wife through this tower.
Danger, strange things, absurd events. He has them all. And he is not a , oh I do not know how to sat it. At the start he is a proper headmaster, strict and goes by the rules. But this changes.
And then it ends and I need more.
I can not even describe it, but is worth reading.
The Tower of Babel is the greatest marvel in the world. Immense as a mountain, the ancient Tower holds unnumbered ringdoms, warring and peaceful, stacked one on the other like the layers of a cake. It is a world of geniuses and tyrants, of airships and steam engines, of unusual animals and mysterious machines.
Soon after arriving for his honeymoon at the Tower, the mild-mannered headmaster of a small village school, Thomas Senlin, gets separated from his wife, Marya, in the overwhelming swarm of tourists, residents, and miscreants.
Senlin is determined to find Marya, but to do so he'll have to navigate madhouses, ballrooms, and burlesque theaters. He must survive betrayal, assassination, and the long guns of a flying fortress. But if he hopes to find his wife, he will have to do more than just endure.
This quiet man of letters must become a man of action.

DeleteI enjoyed this one too, but probably not as much as some others. I also picked it up because I was curious at the rave reviews, but it just didn't blow me away - although the concept was brilliant!
