MY thoughts:
Oh Connie! I get that your dad left, but that does not mean that Jonathan is just like him. Walking out on your family is not the same as travelling the world and finding your passion. But hey a book needs drama so let us begin.

Connie and Jonathan shared a summer long ago. But he dropped out of College and she went on to become a lawyer cos she wanted stability.

But they always meet again since her BFF is neighbor to his family, and cos her BFF Maggie and Owen, J's brother hooked up in book 1.

They banter, they want each other. I want her to let loose and forget about her big plan. I like how he does not give up because he know they are meant to be. I do like a man who gives chase and is not the one running away.

The book actually takes place at the same time as book 1 did. So the big thing I already guessed there. It makes me wonder if book 3 takes place at the same time too since they seem to be doing a dance around too.

But cute and nice

Narrator Veronica Worthington
I was not totally on board with book 1, I felt like her voices blended together and everyone sounded the same. But here they do not. Maybe she got better. Cos here everything fits and i like her narration and voices

My thoughts:
A sweet little book about forbidden love. Though, they were best friends in a way as kids. They always played together. Then he did not show up at the beach or stayed away. And now they are grown ups who can tell their dads to shove it. I mean come on, dads. Ha. SO yes they do not really care.

Maggie loves her work, but her dad can be a handful and does not like changes. And the business is not going well. She is so busy, so stressed, and I must say, work really played a big part in this book. At least her did. His, well he was at work, but we did not see as much as we did with her work. And her love for it really made me like her.

Owen works with his dad in rel estate. And sure he is busy too, but not as stressed as a certain Maggie. He is more stressed cos his dad is being a pain. He was a really sweet guy, normal you know.

And these two meet here and there and finally take the chance to see if there can be more. Fathers be damned.

And there is  lie that will cause drama, but it is not a lie told to her, but still she gets all angry and honestly, there drama was a bit forced. Why was she angry over it? It was not about her directly. Well it is and is not. But it is not a lie told to her. And I felt she over reacted. I am glad that it was over quickly. It is not a spoiler cos when you see it you know that is the thing that will cause drama.

Last thoughts:
Friends, the beach, and romance. What more can one want.

Narrator Veronica Worthington
I took me a while to warm up to her. I mean I liked her voice from the start, but her male and female voices sounded the same. Her female voices sounded the same. Which means that almost everyone sounded the same.
But she was a truly good narrator that still made me enjoy it. That made me forgive the range

Review. Aztec Gold - Caridad Pineiro

Genre: Romantic adventure paranormal
Pages: Ebook, 108
Published: January 2011 Carina press

Six months ago, Cynthia Guerrera's lover and fellow archaeologist Rafael Santiago trekked into the Mexican jungle in search of one of the fabled Cities of Gold-and never emerged. Guilty over their parting, Cynthia won't rest until she knows what happened. When the discovery of a conquistador's journal corroborates Rafe's intended path, Cynthia is determined to finally leave the safety of the museum to rescue him, despite the conquistador's dire warnings, and her own traumatic past.

Arriving at a remote village deep in the jungle, Cynthia is both elated and angered to find Rafe alive. But he is far from well, having watched his team be decimated by a bloodthirsty demon-goddess. When Rafe reveals he has been gifted with supernatural powers-powers he plans to use to kill the beast and save his brother, still held captive in the temple-Cynthia must face her own inner demons to fight alongside the man she loves.

My thoughts:
This one is a mix of genres, I can't put it in just one. There is adventure and suspense, then there is the romance and the paranormal aspects, so all in all a nice little mix.

It a short story, but plenty of action still. Cynthia, the heroine, is an archaeologist, but she stays at the museum cos of something that happened in the past. But she is still strong, and of course smart. Rafe, her lover, has been missing for six months, and he is more the Indiana Jones guy that looks for treasures in the jungle.

The journey there is enough time to make me wonder what is going on, and when they get to where they are headed, that is when the action comes in. Oh yes this temple has a real Goddess who likes to eat people, yummy. Suspense and action.

And don't forget the romance, there are some hot moments earlier on where she remembers Rafe, and more passion are promised when they meet again.

Recommendation and final thoughts:
Like I said, there is something for everyone. Just think Indiana Jones with powers, and all the weird things that happened in those movies, plus smexing. A fun short read.

Cover:
Nice.

Reason for reading:
It was short, and I like her books. Thank you netgalley.

Early review: Stronger than Sin - Caridad Pineiro

Sins 2

Genre: paranormal romance suspense
Pages: 336
Published: October 26th/Nov 1st 2010

Dr. Liliana Carrera nearly lost her life to Wardwell scientists. She won't let them harm other innocent victims, like her new patient, Jesse Bradford. The former pro athlete had the best hands in the NFL, until an injury forced him to undergo Wardwell's experimental gene therapy. Now Jesse's gorgeous body is superhuman-but his strength comes at a price.

With Wardwell threatening his family, Jesse can't tell Liliana all he knows. Yet he can't resist her compassion, or her healing, erotic touch. As their passion flares, Jesse's body becomes dangerous and volatile. For evil men are plotting to change the face of humanity-and will destroy whoever stands in their way.

The books doesn't have to be read in order, but doing that you will know more about these genetic experiments. And as for the paranormal romance label, well there is noting paranormal here so far, it's more scientific romance suspense. The "paranormal" is all man-made. Let me explain.

Plot:
There are this evil kind of scientists that wants to make perfect soldiers and such. By implanting animal DNA into humans. In the last book one escaped and was rescued, and Liliana managed to get the things going on in Cat's body under control. In this one a man shows up claiming to be FBI, and wants Liliana to treat another escapee, Jesse Bradford, a hunky ex football player who joined the treatment in order to get better since he is suffering from a disease. The implanted genes into him, and now those genes are going crazy and he is getting an exo-skeleton, because where he gets a wound, bone heals it. And when the whole of you are just bone, well then you die. The evil guys are also threatening him. There you go, another sort of paranormal romance.

My thoughts:
I liked Liliana already in book 1, she was in a bad relationship and I wanted her to find someone nice. Nice here is Jesse who the "FBI" tells her is out of control and could go crazy and punch someone. She really should be careful but she meets him, she is gentle and sweet, and he falls for her at once. No one has been that nice for a while. He also used to quite the player, but who can hold it against him. He was famous and goodlooking.

I also like Jesse because he feels so bad for lying to her, but he wants to save his sister, and Liliana is one smart women and she has doubts about the whole thing. Something weird is going on. But she still stays, she is tough too.

There was suspense too, the race against the clock because he needs treatment, and his body is out of control. The danger from the Wardwell gang who wants to keep their test subjects and make the process better. The abuse he is suffering from Whittaker, the FBI agent, and so on. And then there is the romance, the slow romance that is building up between these two. She is skittish, and it's wrong on more than one level. But there is passion between them, and when they finally make a move, then it's bliss.

Recommendation and final thoughts:
I say yes,  I would recommend this book. It's different than usual paranormal books, it's like Dark Angel, but without the bleak future. A book for you paranormal and UF fans, for those that like suspense, and romance, and in the end to everyone that would like something different.

It's an easy book to read, even when she in the lab being all smart. I could not turn the pages any faster to see what is going to happen. It was even better than book 1. And when it ends, omg, I do not know what to say. Perfect ending, but also an opening and I sure hopes she writes more.

I will give it a 4, because that it kept me entertained and I didn't want to put it down.

The Cover: Lovely, and that silver dust has a meaning too.

Review: Sins of the Flesh - Caridad Pineiro

Sins of the Flesh by Caridad Pineiro

Genre: Paranormal romance Suspense
Pages: 336
Published: October 2009

Caterina Shaw’s days are numbered. Her only chance for survival is a highly experimental gene treatment – a risk she willingly takes. But now Caterina barely recognizes herself. She has new, terrifying powers, an exotic, arresting body — and she’s been accused of a savage murder, sending her on the run.

Mick Carrera is a mercenary and an expert at capturing elusive, clever prey. Yet the woman he’s hunting down is far from the vicious killer he’s been told to expect: Caterina is wounded, vulnerable, and a startling mystery of medical science. Even more, she’s a beautiful woman whose innocent sensuality tempts Mick to show her exactly how thrilling pleasure can be. The heat that builds between them is irresistible, but surrendering to it could kill them both . . . for a dangerous group is plotting its next move using Caterina as its deadly pawn.

This was a great book, at first I did not know what it would be about, I mean he is kissing her underwear, would it be a smexy ride? Actually it was not as PR as some in the genre. This was more like UF is sometimes, and I liked it a lot. Edit: Just found that they call it suspense too, and yes that makes sense.

Caterina Shaw was dying from cancer ad she was offered something new, but that turned out to be a nightmare as they used her as a labrat in a gene experiment. Her body is strange and she is stronger than before, but also lost and vulnerable. She did it all for her music, which she loves.

Mick is sent to find her, but he has doubt that she will be a savaged killer. He is ex army, hot, and very protective. Yes very alpha. He finds her, and then he wants the truth, but he can't just hand her over.

Instead of saying it is paranormal romance, I would make it contemporary sci-fi romance, you get my point. It was about the science, and her powers comes from that (if not something new shows up in the next book). And there is romance, oh yes it is building up between those two, and I am glad it takes some time for things to heat up because she is so vulnerable and lost. And when it finally happens it makes total sense. During all that time he does play the tough guy, but anyone can see that wants to protect, and I like him a lot.Cat is nice, but since she is pretty lost, and I wonder if she is a murderess, well I just had to get to know her and trust her like he did.

What to say, the book is not as sexy as it looks, so go on give it a try, it was a nice one, and to those who likes it sexy, well you will get what you want too later on.

I really liked how these two got to know and trust each other, and I enjoyed the sidestory with his sister Liliana and her ass of a boyfriend. I hope we get to hear more about her...in the middle of this review I went on over to Caridad's site, and oh yes book 2 will be about Liliana. I am very happy to hear that. She deserves a nice guy.

There is the strangeness of the gene treatment, and evil scientist, the hunters after Cat, the budding romance between her and sexy Mike. Liliana's story and involvement since she is a doctor and wants to help. The hunt getting closer and closer as they want their experiment back. A story with a bit of everything. A story that managed to grab me as the characters came to life. I'd say, read it.

PS. I do not know how to make the thingy over N in Pineiro.

Blodeuedd's Cover Corner: It does look more sexy than it is, but it is pretty and I love the backcover, have to show you it.

Reason for Reading. Copy from the author in change for an honest review.
Final thoughts: I liked it a lot, and it managed to surprise me, I did judge the book by its cover.

Guest post: Caridad Pineiro with Sins of the Flesh (+contest)

Todays guest is Caridad Pineiro, I am happy to welcome her to my blog. At the end of this post you  can win a copy of her book, Sins of the Flesh.

Caridad: Thank you so much for having me at your blog!

Today I wanted to share with you some behind the scenes info about my latest release, SINS OF THE FLESH, the first book in an exciting new paranormal suspense series from Grand Central Publishing.   Hopefully you’ll find some of the places that will be appearing in the book interesting.

Because I love the Jersey Shore, I decided to set all of the books in the SINS series in various towns “down the shore” as the Jersey folk day.  SINS OF THE FLESH takes place in the hero’s home – Bradley Beach, New Jersey. According to the town website, “(t)he earliest accounts of Bradley Beach can be traced back to 1679 when it is said that Captain William Kidd anchored his vessel off Duck Creek, now known as Sylvan Lake.”

Captain Kidd! How cool is that, although I don’t have any pirates in my book, just some arguably mad scientists doing weird gene experiments.

I visited Bradley Beach several times to do research and am continuing to go back for more research as I write the second book in the series – STRONGER THAN SIN - which will feature Mick’s little sister Liliana. Liliana is a doctor at a local hospital and is doing a residency in orthopedic surgery.

Bradley Beach is a quite family-kind of town, perfect for a hero like Mick who needs to get away from his dangerous life as a mercenary.  This photo is of the Bradley Beach Centennial Fountain.  I originally had a scene where the villain finds a photo of Mick and his family in front of this fountain, but we cut it.  My editor thought it would be too easy for the villain to find them with such a clue.  If you’d like to see more pictures from the Jersey Shore towns in the SINS series, you can visit the albums on my website

In the winter, a lot of the towns really quiet down.  For example, Bradley Beach goes from having about 30,000 inhabitants down to about 4,000.  Again, a nice secluded place for nefarious activity.  In STRONGER THAN SIN, coming out in October 2010, much of the action occurs in the Fall when the area is quieter.  STRONGER is set mostly in Spring Lake and Ocean Grove.  The latter is a quaint Victorian town with beautiful gardens and the famous tent city.  These tents go up in the early spring and come down in the late fall.  People will spend their summers in these tents and that has been going on for nearly 100 years.

The different feels of the towns and their uniqueness help me give each of the SINS novels a slightly different feel while highlighting an area that I really love.

I hope you enjoyed this view into the locations for SINS OF THE FLESH.

And now to something else, thanks to the nice people at the Blog Tour
