This world feels so dark to me, not that that is a bad thing, just you know, I would not want to live there! I feel so sorry for familiar and so many wizards are asshats.

The world is grey and unforgiving. You can go a long time thinking yes I will be a wizard! And then BAM! Nope, you are a familiar. Suddenly you are the dirt beneath someones feet, and do not even get me started on the choosing process, getting raped, and I guess if you are lucky meeting someone like Gabriel who you choose to be with. Yes, dark world. I want these two to rise up, take over and BURN it to the ground. The familiars are the ones making the wizards great, so more power to the familiars! I want a revolution started. Intriguing world, oh yes.

Gabriel is still weary, he is not a fan of the wizarding world and how the rule, and tell him how to rule. He likes Nic, she is his wife, he wants to protect her and not just use her as a magical tool. And Nic has sure realised that Gabriel is the best that could have happened to her. He let's her be her, he is hot, and she will try her best to make his House great again.

But the stupid wizarding rulers want her to bend and be rehabilitated. And she has a wizard to teach, a Mansion to rebuild and a House to make one of the big ones again. Ugh those damn idiots in charge. Revolution people, bring them down. Or let a a slow process start of showing others that they can be nice to each other.

I do wonder about book 3. I hope things goes they way, and now they have his sister to worry about too. I have no idea how this will turn out.

I tried reading this one last year, but I just could not. The world is falling apart cos of The cough, yeah, that was too real. Now it was easier to get into it.

Red is all alone in the woods trying to reach her grandmother, yes there is a little red riding hood connection. In flashbacks we meet her family as they plan to make the trek. But yes obvi something happens.

The woods are not without danger. There is the risk of meeting sick people, of meeting soldiers rounding up everyone for quarantine centers, crazy militia people or just effed up people.

I liked it. She was tough, she just wanted to live. There is some utter craziness going on too. I always read everything Henry writes

It's not safe for anyone alone in the woods. There are predators that come out at night: critters and coyotes, snakes and wolves. But the woman in the red jacket has no choice. Not since the Crisis came, decimated the population, and sent those who survived fleeing into quarantine camps that serve as breeding grounds for death, destruction, and disease. She is just a woman trying not to get killed in a world that doesn't look anything like the one she grew up in, the one that was perfectly sane and normal and boring until three months ago.

There are worse threats in the woods than the things that stalk their prey at night. Sometimes, there are men. Men with dark desires, weak wills, and evil intents. Men in uniform with classified information, deadly secrets, and unforgiving orders. And sometimes, just sometimes, there's something worse than all of the horrible people and vicious beasts combined.

Red doesn't like to think of herself as a killer, but she isn't about to let herself get eaten up just because she is a woman alone in the woods...

Another Griffiths! I do have some left to read, from another series, but alas, there has been this evil hacking of the database and you can't even borrow books. ANIMALS! Anyway, no more books right now then.

But this one. As in the previous books it has many povs, this one has Harbinder's POV, the detective on the case. An then there is Natalka, Ben and Edwin, the busy trio. One a carer, one a former monk turned coffee shop owner, and one senior citizen.

A 90 year old is murdered. Her friends wants answers. Harbinder needs to solve it, cos oh my these three does try to find clues on their own, and more bodies follow.

I liked the busy trio, they were fun. And I like Harbinder, she has her head straight, I mean she has to as a detective, but still.

I enjoyed the book, I could not figure out who did it, as always, I never does. A good mystery

The death of a ninety-year-old woman with a heart condition should absolutely not be suspicious. DS Harbinder Kaur certainly sees nothing to concern her in carer Natalka's account of Peggy Smith's death. But when Natalka reveals that Peggy lied about her heart condition and that she had been sure someone was following her...

And that Peggy Smith had been a 'murder consultant' who plotted deaths for authors, and knew more about murder than anyone has any right to...

And when clearing out Peggy's flat ends in Natalka being held at gunpoint by a masked figure...

Well then DS Harbinder Kaur thinks that maybe there is no such thing as an unsuspicious death after all.

7/6/2021 How do you approach writing reviews?

I am probably watching something on tv. I open goodreads, check the blurb so I can spell names, and I write a review. Fast and easy. Then, probably not, I might schedule it on my blog. Or a week later when I am all, eeek, must fix this now!

No sweat. No worry. I just write what I feel right then. I try to write one as fast as I can so all those feelings are close by.
