Sci fi romance /From Bookbeat stream

I decided to try another audiobook site (we have like 3 big ones here that are fighting for dominance and always lots of try it for free.) And I was yes, they have this third book! I need to listen to it.

Lots have happened. You must listen in order. Things in space are tense. Lexi gets in trouble in Valovia and meets hunky Nilo again. Lots of running, hiding, danger and falling in love. We meet the crew again and more danger to be had.

Some loose threads are still there, so I wonder if there will be a spin off?

Another good story

Great narration. Kept me entertained and listening.

As a recovery specialist, Lexi Bowen's jobs typically require more trickery and thievery than honest work. Her former captain might not approve of her flexible morals, but stealing artifacts for rich assholes pays the bills, and Lexi's had enough of war and death. The FHP left her to die once; she doesn't plan to give them a chance to finish the job.

Unfortunately, her latest contract takes her to Valovia itself--and right back into the orbit of Nilo Shoren, a Valovian teleporter who already cost her one payday and nearly stole her heart.

Armored against his clever charm, Lexi plans to get in, get the job done, and get out. But when her former crew goes missing in Valovian space, Lexi will have to work with Nilo to figure out what happened--and stop it--before the galaxy's two superpowers can use the disappearance as an excuse to return to war.

8/8/2023 Which book world would you like to visit (real and/or fictional)?

This is another hard one. I love my fantasy and Uf books, but I would hate to visit those worlds. NO thank you.

But maybe, yes maybe I could visit Pride and Prejudice, and take a look at Mr Darcy. That world would be more manageable.

This is Book Two in the Agents of the Rune Stone Ring Trilogy, but it also contains a complete story that can be enjoyed on its own.

Review:
Book 2! Been meaning to continue this series but I'm glad I waited until the updated and final version was ready.

Here we follow our team. They have a lot on their plate: their old enemy is reaching out from beyond death to seek revenge, a seductive prince will stop at nothing to make Freyja his own, and court intrigue that never seems to end. Just another day in the kingdom of Aarastad.

Oh, Freyja. I still like her BUT I was so annoyed with her. Sighs. Don't want to spoil anything......I GET IT, but I also wanted to shake her! Even though there were times I wanted to shake her...I am enjoying watching her go from that girl to a woman of the people. She has the makings of a great queen.  Ambrose is a saint but there were times I wanted to shake him too. Young love.

Speaking of which! The author has such an array of fun characters. You can't help but love all of them and hate the baddies.

Now there was a chunk of slow bits that had me itching wanting things to hurry up. That could've been a me-issue. I was anxious for a certain issue to be resolved asap.

Other than that I really enjoyed this one. Between our lovers and the drama of court and necromancy, I was scared for everyone. Edge of my seat! I didn't want to put this book down but darn adult life ;)

UGH that ending. My heart!

Overall, I enjoyed this one. I can't wait to get to book 3. I need to know what is going to happen next for our team!! A slow moment that had me anxious but overall, 4 stars. Def recommend this. I would encourage reading book 1 first.

Historical romance /to review

Francesca and her mother left London years ago because of a scandal. Now she is back, she needs money and she thinks her uncle should help. But before that, a wallflower season.

Giles is a Duke, he should get married so he has chosen a nice pretty girl. Nothing could go wrong. Then he meets her annoying cousin, Francesca.

Oh these two do not like each other. Giles says some mean things and the ton is looking at the train wreck. But at the same time they fancy the pants of each other.

The second part of the book is them being married, and drama ensues cos lies and secrets. Giles should have told her the truth, idiot.

I liked the side characters we meet. Francescas cousin was really nice and will get her own hea in this book. So no one is stealing a fiance here. Francescas uncle was an ass.

Great narration that kept me hooked. I have listened to her narrations before and they are always top notch.

One should never judge a duke by his cover. As far as London society knows, Giles Drew, the Duke of Basingstoke, is everything a proper aristocrat ought to be. But when a notorious scandal sheet publishes details of Giles’s questionable bedroom antics, only one bride can salvage his reputation.

Prim and penniless, Francesca Stanhope has resigned herself to a season full of the ton’s snickering—until the Duke of Basingstoke’s dizzying courtship transforms her fate. Yet wedded bliss quickly turns into a clash of wills as Franny realizes her handsome duke is a devil in disguise.

But beneath the newlywed’s skirmishes lies scorching heat. And while each attempts to tame the other, the truth is that this unconventional union may be all either could ever desire . . .
