Review: Blood bound - Patricia Briggs

 Mercy Thompson, book 2

Genre: Urban fantasy
Pages: 292
Published: 2007

Mechanic Mercy Thompson has friends in low places-and in dark ones. And now she owes one of them a favor. Since she can shapeshift at will, she agrees to act as some extra muscle when her vampire friend Stefan goes to deliver a message to another of his kind.

But this new vampire is hardly ordinary-and neither is the demon inside of him.

This is the second Mercy Thompson book. She is co-existing with Samuel, and Adam is always nearby. One day Stefan asks her for that favour she ows him, and soon she is in the middle of something big. There is one bad vampire in town, but the thing is that he is no ordinary vampire, he has a demon inside him, and whatever image the fey and wolves are trying to build up can come crashing down as the heatwave of the summer transforms into chaos and violence.

I just love Mercy, sure I have been sitting on this book for a while. but how I wanted to read it. I am glad I have book 3 close, and if I could only get a hold of the rest (working on it, we will see.)

This is urban fantasy at its best. The world is real, and she is real (and pretty kick-ass too). The fay has been know to the humans for a while, and in the last book the wolves came out. it has been 6 months, and Adam has been working on some PR. But there seems to be much more things that go bump in the night, and the humans are not ready.

The wolves are so big and bad, and Adam, oh yes so one of my fav alphas, and then there is Samuel. Forgive me if I melt a bit. The sexual tension in this book is so thick that you could cut it with a knife. Of course I want her to choose Adam, cos he is sweet, and protective. But when Samuel goes saying that yes sure he would love to have her cos she would bring him healthy babies, but mostly it is cos the wolf wants her. I died a little just there. Briggs keeps playing with us, and even if I know how it surely will turn out and hang on every word that they say.

In this book there is also a third surprise, perhaps, I am not telling. Could be, could not be.

The action keeps on coming as they hunt down a killer, and people will get hurt in the process. The sexual tension is as said growing between my fav triangle. And Mercy is as careless, and brave as always. This is a series that makes me wanna buy the next book at once, if I only lived in a better country. It will make you want more, that is a warning, and a promise.

Blodeuedd's Cover Corner: Ok she is obviously working, so why is she showing her bra, wouldn't it get greasy under the car. Icky. Still stunning.
Reason for reading: Own copy.
Final thoughts: If I didn't have this tiny bit of self-control, I could not stop myself from jumping to book 3, but I do have it, and will wait until I have more books.

  1. I love the security of having a sequel to a book I am really enjoying close by! I just read a fantasy I really enjoyed- The Red Wolf Conspiracy- and sadly, don't have the sequel yet! But hopefully soon.

  4. I like this series, too, although I wish the cover was more accurate - her only tattoo is a pawprint on her stomach!

  5. B,

I love this series. :) I am glad that you are enjoying it too.

I would assume that her bra would get greasy while she was working...it makes more sense to cover it up at work and leave the show and tell for later. LOL

    Have a wonderful day. :)

Lol, yes a lot of grease on that body and bra afterwards. Gotta leave a little show and tell until she gets home to her man

  12. This is one of my favorite series. My husband actually reads these books too :)

While I think the tats on the cover are gorgeous, it does bug me that they're not a portrayal of the character...

    Staci,

  15. Oh, I just finished MOON CALLED and adored it! I'm dipping my toes in the urban fantasy kinda thing, and this was a great starter for me. Too bad and I do NOT have any more of the books on the TBR and have to resort to borrowing them from the library, but BLOOD BOUND is on my list for my next trip.

  16. I love these books.

I always wonder why Mercy has so many tattoos on the covers when really she only has one or two in the books.

I think they wanted to give the book the "urban fantasy sexy" look or something and so had to show some skin.

  17. Carrie,
It is sure eye fetching, I'll give them credit for that ;)

I might think that this might have been my first UF too, I had tried paranormal, but this first one was at least the first book I knew to be UF...and I loved it

I do think so, UFsexy sells, and the tattoos makes her look badass, but she would still be badass with the ones she actually have

I've read the first one and I thought it was kind of slow in the begining but I ended up enjoying it very much.
