March 10th: Do you enjoy anthologies?

I usually write these on Sunday, but I must have forgotten!

Ok, so sure, at times. I never go out of my way to get one. If I find one, then yes, if I am sent one, then yes, but most of the time some are meh, some are good, some are too short.

So...sometimes

  1. I never used to like them because they usually have open endings but then a few really great ones came out so I started to enjoy them as a way to try new authors.

But now I only end up liking 1-2 stories out of the whole thing so I don't bother unless it's authors I love.

    1. Yeah it is not really worth it when I have never loved them all.

  2. Sometimes I do but most times I would rather read a standalone book. The stories in anthologies are usually too short to really enjoy much.

  5. I think it depends on the anthology. I tend to like them if they are all from an author that I like but sometimes there are as many bad stories as good ones.

  6. I'm usually not a fan. There's usually like one or two good stories and the others are just meh.

  7. I like the ones that are by one author that I already read. Those are the best ones.

  8. Nope, can't really do them! Few short stories engage me the way full length novels do, it takes a very good author and writing :)

  10. I don't mind them, but I don't go out of my way for them unless it catches my eye for an author or theme I really enjoy.

  11. Way back in the day, I absolutely loved anthologies, and it seemed like there were quite a bit in the romance genre back then. It was a really great way to meet new romance authors too. Now, not so much. Hugs, RO
