Review: Ill Wind - Rachel Caine

Joanne Baldwin is a Weather Warden - waves her hand to tame the most violent weather. Now she races against accusations of corruption and murder. Her only hope is Lewis, the most powerful warden known. Because he stole three bottles of Djinn, he is now the most wanted criminal on earth. Can she find him before the bad weather closes in?

My thoughts:
Honestly this one fell flat for me from the first page. I tried reading it, then I started skimming and finished it cos sometimes I hate giving up. Especially with my own books.

What's her name... ok I do remember it, Joanne is running. I did not care why she was running. Why she had a mark on her. Why there was a need for constant jumps in time. Why there were wardens. I just did not care.

Ok I am lying, David seemed hot and was intriguing. But that whole story was stupid too.

Conclusion:
In the end it was one big fail and I would not read any more even if one fell down from the sky.

  3. I liked this series initially, but after a few books I gave up - it just couldn't hold my attention long term.

  4. I'm sorry it wasn't for you, I haven't tried it, but I loved the outcast spin off (the only series I've read by her)

  5. Sorry this wasn't for you, but could you dig a little deeper on what made this story stupid? was it the main character? the story? the way it developed?

    1. Honestly I read this one 2,5 months ago and remember NOTHING. The whole book was just so boring and now afterwards it's all a blank. When it sucks it sucks, everything just sucks that is the deeper thing..
But ok the story seems to be what I said was stupid. And my status updates just says boooored.

But it was the whole on the run thing and the weather thing. And a freaky guy she picked up. And I just do not remember anything anymore. It was not memorable

  6. Thats too bad. I figured it would be good since there's so many books in the series. Maybe It'll get better in later books.

  11. I read this one a few years ago and it didn't grab me either...I just found the main character very difficult to relate too - she wasn't human enough for me!

  14. Aww bummer. I love the sound of this series and I have book one and two waiting for me on my shelf. I've read the first two of Caine's YA series so I enjoy her writing. I'll have to be cautious when I open this one up. Thanks B!

  21. I've not read this series. But I did read the first...maybe 2 books (it was long before I started blogging) of her other series with the Djinn in it. I want to get back to that series.
