Turbo Twenty-three - Janet Evanovich

Larry Virgil skipped out on his latest court date after he was arrested for hijacking an eighteen-wheeler full of premium bourbon. Fortunately for bounty hunter Stephanie Plum, Larry is just stupid enough to attempt almost the exact same crime again. Only this time he flees the scene, leaving behind a freezer truck loaded with Bogart ice cream and a dead body—frozen solid and covered in chocolate and chopped pecans.

As fate would have it, Stephanie’s mentor and occasional employer, Ranger, needs her to go undercover at the Bogart factory to find out who’s putting their employees on ice and sabotaging the business. It’s going to be hard for Stephanie to keep her hands off all that ice cream, and even harder for her to keep her hands off Ranger. It’s also going to be hard to explain to Trenton’s hottest cop, Joe Morelli, why she is spending late nights with Ranger, late nights with Lula and Randy Briggs—who are naked and afraid—and late nights keeping tabs on Grandma Mazur and her new fella. Stephanie Plum has a lot on her plate, but for a girl who claims to have “virtually no marketable skills,” these are the kinds of sweet assignments she does best.

My thoughts:
I can not stop reading these books. But hey to be honest, this one was good for once. It has been a while.

I am still SOOOOOO tired of them.

A car was blown up as always
Lula was supposedly funny
Gran was supposedly amusing
Morelli was there for smexy times and lasagna
Ranger called her babe
She failed to catch skips

And for some reason SHE was the one Ranger sent undercover and then took her to find the killer. Srsly, I would take some with skills and not this miserable excuse for a human being.

But it was funny at times. It has not been funny for some time. Mostly annoying.

And I can not stop

  3. I totally get not being able to stop reading a series even though the books aren't bad. I read a couple of books by this author in this series, but it got old real fast.

  5. I haven't ever been too interested in this series and none of the reviews for the more recent installments have lured me in.

  6. my mom was obsessed with this series so I had some knowledge about it. 20+ books and it sounds like there is no character development. guess Morelli and Ranger are still around tho.. God I hope it doesn't turn into another Anita Blake..

  7. Hahaha! I was nodding at your list of things that happen in these books. They are so formulaic, but entertaining enough. :)

  16. Evanovich sure is the "queen of kick-ass crime" the way she keeps pumping out these books. But of course, quality is more important than quantity. I'm glad this one ended up being better than the last few!

  22. I should try these. I've heard the audio is good. My favorite female narrator, Lorelei King, does them, right?
