Audio: Cowboy Seal Redemption - Nicole Helm

My thoughts:
These titles are a mouthful! But hey I love my cowboys, in any form.

Now it's Jack's turn to find love. He suffers from ptsd, but has taken steps to get better. His life on the ranch, talking to people, and of course his therapist. All things that is making him better. And I liked seeing how he got better. He is such a sweet guy. But drama will find him as his family is coming for a visit. And grrrrr, we learned in book 1 that his fiance slept with his brother and they are not married and have a kid. Who wouldn't be angry!

In comes Rose, oh woman, she was trouble. I was so mad at her at times. But then at the end I felt sorry for her. She has issues, ISSUES. She thinks she is so strong and in control. But she has wounds that wont let her open up. I wanted to shake her and scream that he loves her and she loves him. But, this is how it was meant to be. Some people are really scarred and it takes time. I was still mad at her though cos she was so blind.

They start a fake relationship that obviously blossoms into more.
But first they have to deal with his family. And he has to learn to talk, and she has to learn to be loved. There will be drama, slow drama, and there will be romance. It's all very bittersweet.

Conclusion:
A sweet lovestory with thorns

Narrator: Remy Nordlinger
I like her voices for everyone and she really fits this genre.

Blurb:
Jack Armstrong's been slowly piecing his life back together after a career-ending injury bounced him from the SEALs. The only trouble is, his family's on their way to his new haven in Montana . . . and Jack refuses to let them know he's still hurting. Desperate, he makes a deal with local bad girl Rose Rogers: in exchange for some extra security, she'll play the perfect loving girlfriend. Rose doesn't trust any man, much less some tough-as-nails former SEAL. But the more they settle into their ruse, the more things start to feel real, and the more Rose's true fear surfaces-that she'll never be good enough for love. But Jack isn't about to lose Rose. He's done running when things get tough, and he's determined to prove-once and for all-that even the most troubled hearts can find their way to redemption.

White trash zombie unchained - Diana Rowland

Angel Crawford has finally pulled herself together (literally!) after her disastrous dismemberment on Mardi Gras. She’s putting the pieces of her life back in order and is ready to tackle whatever the future holds.

Too bad the future is a nasty bitch. There’s a new kind of zombie in town: mindless shamblers, infectious and ravenous.

With the threat of a full-blown shambler pandemic looming, and a loved one stricken, Angel and the “real” zombies scramble to find a cure. Yet when Angel uncovers the true reason the plague is spreading so quickly, she adds “no-holds-barred revenge” to her to-do list.

Angel is busting her ass dealing with shambling hordes, zombie gators, government jerks, and way too many mosquitos, but this white trash chick ain’t giving up.

Good thing, since the fate of the world is resting on her undead shoulders.

My thoughts:
I think it was book 4 I had issues with and was all maybe I should not read more. But then I did. And here we are again, again with issues. It was just dull and felt phoned in. This time I will let it be forgotten and not put the next one on my wishlist.

Angel is...doing stuff.
Her dad was playing videogames.
There are gators that like her.
That evil doc is back.
There is a zombie virus
Yawn.

People are running around like headless chickens and there was no joy left in reading it.
It had semi good parts, but alas, this only gets an ok and a farewell from me. When you do not care what happens it is time to let it go.

TMST: E-readers

Tell Me Something Tuesday is a weekly discussion post on Rainy Day Ramblings where Rainy discuss a wide range of topics from books to blogging. Weigh in and join the conversation by adding your thoughts in the comments. If you want to do your own post, grab the question and answer it on your blog.

July 10th: What do you like about reading on an ereader?

Honestly...almost nothing- The only good thing I can think of is that you can read in the dark. Yes that is a good thing.

But I will never fall truly for ebooks. I like looking at the cover, not having to backtrack. I like to suddenly read the blurb- I like for things to happen at once. Maybe there is a map, omg this takes 2 secs. F that!

Yes there is good that you can have many books on it, but then the battery dies and I am all ffffff!

E-readers are good in the dark. *shrugs* I prefer print and audio ;)

The devil's half mile - Paddy Hirsch

My thoughts:

I have talked about it before, how I enjoyed a historical mystery. Because they have to work so much harder for it. There are no fancy labs or tech. There is legwork and asking the right and wrong questions that will probably land you in even more trouble. And I like that.

Justice is a young man who has been away studying law (and police work). Not to mention fighting the English in Ireland (bloody English!). And now he is back. An honest man, a good man. I liked him. He had a good head (and brain) on his shoulders. His uncle is a gangster and it would be so easy to become crooked, but he wants to make his own way.

This is a murder mystery on many levels. Like who killed his father many years ago? What was he dealing with? Is there something crooked on Wall street? (when isn't there). And not to mention as soon as he land he comes across men dragging up a murdered woman so what's the deal with that?  Slowly the pieces in the puzzle comes together, but it takes investigating and again, asking all those right and wrong questions.

And the bad guys wants to be in the clear.

There is also the story about him meeting his old friend, who is now a young woman and he does want to see that she is ok too. I will not tell to much there, you will see.

All in all, I do like a good mystery that is hard to crack. And I like how grey the book is. It's not easy in those times bringing people to justice (pun intended). There is danger and darkness in all that grey and the dark that is humanity.

I also felt like it could be a series...I wonder if he will do that. I'd like to see Justice solve a few more murders and hunt down a  few killers. He has this dark edge to him

Conclusion:
A historical thriller set in a New York I do not see often. Mystery, danger and a hunt for a killer.

Blurb:
New York, 1799: Justy Flanagan, lawyer, soldier, policeman, has returned to his native city, bloodied and battered after fighting in the Irish Rebellion against the English. Determined to hunt down the man who murdered his father, his inquiries lead him to Wall Street and the fledgling stock market there.

But as his investigations into the past move ahead, the horrific murders of young slave women in the present start to occupy his time. Convinced that there is a link between his father's murder, the deaths of the young women, and amassive fraud that nearly destroyed New York's economy, Justy can trust no one.

As the conspiracy deepens, it becomes clear that those involved will stop atnothing to keep their secrets. Justy is forced to choose: will he betray his father's memory, compromise his integrity, and risk the lives of his closest friends, to get to the bottom of a tale so dangerous, it could change the landscape of America forever?
