My thoughts:
I guess I expected epic fantasy, not fantasy romance. Not that I don't like that, it's just, there was a lot of talking and wondering and fluffiness. Now I sound horrid, I still enjoyed it all.
There were a few things that bothered me though, Fawn is so short that she is mistaken for a child, Dag sees her boobs and gets that she is a woman. He thinks of her as a childwoman and honestly that was a bit creepy, not mentioning that we do not know his age..which was, yeah.
But ok let's not think about that. Let's just think about a woman meeting a man. Man saves her and cares for her, and slowly they fall in love. All while she learns about his people.
The first part is more filled since there they fight bad things, but then they get to this hotel and things slow down.
Conclusion:
But the world is interesting, and I wonder how things will work out for these two. I enjoyed it and read it really quickly and then I cursed someone who had borrowed part 2 ;)

Yea, the childwoman thing sounds creepy. Other than that, this sounds like an interesting read.
ReplyDeleteI don't know that I could have gotten past the thinking she was a child then seeing boobs to realize she isn't---puberty can give you boobs at 12 so that would stick with me *sigh*

Childwoman?? yea I don't know about that part, but the fact that you cursed when book 2 was borrowed means you liked it just enough :)

But fantasy, that need to be epic, sure there can be romance. But all these feelings and talking. I need fighting, war and severed heads
Sounds like it had some good points but the childwoman aspect definitely makes things uncomfortable for me.

I had hoped for epic, and yes fantasy romance is good, but I seldom truly fall for romance. Yes I liek it, but I never fall madly in love like with fantasy

The cover remindsme of fantasy books from the 90s! You must have enjoyed it somewhat, seeing how you were cursing out that pesky book reader!

I like this author's voice in her Chalion books. Loved that series! But I couldn't get into this one :(
