My thoughts:
This is the third and last book in the series. The Elven rule is to come to an end, or least the rebels hope so. Many years have gone by since book 1 and in this book we meet Drystan Hawkes. The couple from book 2 has raised him in Wales and so the story continues.
Drystan is more of the bookish kind of hero, and I do love a hero who loves books. He is also in love with a woman he has been dreaming of and wants to find her. And we all know that that woman will be the mysterious slave girl. Camille who has been mistreated and does not trust men. It's not a love story that will be easy but true love will always win and their passion can conquer everything.
The book is about these two finding each other, the rebels trying to win the war and the cruelty of the Elven Lords. It's quite the race to the finish line.
One thing I was not too happy about and that was that there was a mention of two other couples that has stolen scepters and I felt cheated. I wanted to read their stories, but I can't since they are not written, and I really wish they had been written. Instead it had jumped over a few important things and come to this point so that there could be ending to it all. Still I liked the book even if I felt like I wanted to read those stories too.
Conclusion:
It's an enchanting story about love, passion and magic.

Maybe the author will surprise her readers with a few novella so you can get the other characters' stories? :)

ReplyDeleteANYWAYS, sounds like an interesting series. I haven't read any books about elves (besides for LOTR), so it would be a change to my reading.
I thought this would be a series I would really enjoy but I tried reading the first book last week and I couldn't get into it, though I now I can't remember why that was.

I love elves, love love love them. Of course here they are sadly mad. Poor elves, and I who love them so much. But then crazy elves are so much more fun then the boring peace loving kind.

You are kidding me! The last book? I really thought we would get a story about each Fae Lord, and how they are brought down! Well, now I am really not in a rush to read it!
ReplyDeleteI guess it's a good problem to have - to want to know more about the stories of other characters, but I can see how it would be frustrating given you know this is the last book! Sounds like a fabulous series:)

That's so depressing when a series ends and it doesn't feel final to the reader. Maybe like Missie said they will get a novella in the future.

Well it did end things, it's just that I wanted to know what happened 20 years ago
I'm torn about reading this one. I loved The Fire Lord's Lover but wasn't a huge fan of Lady of the Storm. I loved the world she built but the romances weren't as strong for me.
