Review: Visions of Heat - Nalini Singh

 Psy-Changeling, book 2

Genre: Paranormal romance
Pages: 2007
Published: 346

Used to cold silence, Faith NightStar is suddenly being tormented by dark visions of blood and murder. A bad sign for anyone, but worse for Faith, an F-Psy with the highly sought after ability to predict the future. Then the visions show her something even more dangerous-aching need...exquisite pleasure. But so powerful is her sight, so fragile the state of her mind, that the very emotions she yearns to embrace could be the end of her.

Changeling Vaughn D'Angelo can take either man or jaguar form, but it is his animal side that is overwhelmingly drawn to Faith. The jaguar's instinct is to claim this woman it finds so utterly fascinating and the man has no argument. But while Vaughn craves sensation and hungers to pleasure Faith in every way, desire is a danger that could snap the last threads of her sanity. And there are Psy who need Faith's sight for their own purposes. They must keep her silenced-and keep her from Vaughn.

Ok so we have yet another cold Psy woman, this one ice-cold because she has never been touched by any other than medics. She lives in a secluded part of the city, actually so far from it that it's almost changeling land, and she never sees anyone. Then a little jaguar comes along, well ok, a big jaguar. He senses something and some time later he catches a woman in the woods. Faith has decided to leave her fortress of solitude to enter the world, and perhaps try to find her sisters killer, or just hide from the notion that she might be loosing it. And a cat loves to play with his pray, over and over again.

Sadly I didn't like this one as much, perhaps it was Faith because she is very cold. I liked Vaughn because he keeps on touching her and trying to make her understand that she will not go insane by a touch. I can see that he cares, and wants her. But she, like all Psy, cold as ice.

Here they hunt another Psy serial killer on the loose. And Silence and the council is not all what it's cracked up to be. Emotions are starting to pop up. And that is sure what the Psy need, I am looking forward to reading on and seeing how this gets resolved.

We got the action and hunt for a killer. And the tender lovestory about a woman who fears human contact because she fears it will drive her insane. It was nice to see the story evolve around that.

But, big but, Judd showed up for like a couple of pages and suddenly my eyes were all on him, he is sure a Psy too, but I do think I can take a man being cold more. And yay when I noticed that his book is up next!

Blodeuedd's Cover Corner: The UK version, I do not like them cos they are all of a man's head, and a scar (of different guys) but still too alike.
Reason for reading: Borrowed from a friend
Final thoughts: Good enough, and it did make me wanna read the next book when I heard who was in it.

  1. This wasn't a favorite of mine either, Blodeuedd, and for pretty much all the same reasons. I just had a difficult time connecting with Faith.

Ooooo Judd. One of my FAVORITES! You'll love his book. Enjoy!

    Hugs, VFG

  2. Excellent review B! I have this series in the stacks collecting dust. *hangs head in shame* but will eventually get to them.

Hopefully you will like the next one in the series more. ;)

    Thanks for sharing..

  3. Sorry to hear you didnt like it as much. Hopefuly you'll like the next in the series better.

  4. If it helps, I liked all the books after this one more than I did this one. :)

  5. I really do enjoy reading your thoughts on the books that you read. This one doesn't look right for me, but I sure hope the next one is better for you, especially because it's from Judd's POV.

  6. Hey honey!! You did a great review!
I have yet to read this series, I know I know ~ before you say anything.. I know I have to get it! I promise I will!!
I hope you and bf had a great weekend!!!! And all is going well!

  7. VFG
She was just so, so, so Psy and weird.
But yay! I am glad to hear that JUdd's book is great! Now I can't wait to read it. I totally fell for him in this one, he stole the spotlight.

Everyone seems to be saying they love it so I have high hopes for it.

I can't love every book in a series, there has to be those ok ones too :)

Wohoo, thanks! That does help a lot.

Shall not get my hopes to high now, but I am pretty sure I'll enjoy it :)

  8. Oh, I still want to read the first one! Shame you didn't like it as much though.

Great review - sold me anyway. :)

Hope you are having a good week!

  9. You made my heart stop for a moment when I read 2007 pages, but luckily that's a little mix up... although I can see you do it. ;)
This series is one of those I want to read but haven't found the time for yet. Great review & enjoy Judd, sweetie! :D

  10. I enjoyed this one, but never moved on to Judd's story for some reason.

  11. Sassy
I am glad I sold it anyway :) It was good, just not AS good.

What? *checks that quickly* oooops! ;) Yeah that was quite a mix up, and that book was sure published very very long ago.
And I do think I could handle that ;)

You never did, oh, well then I will tell you if it's worth it :D

  12. I've heard this authors name a lot and it's certainly made me interested.

  13. I heart this series and Judd...oh you're in for such a treat. I just re-read his story this week and I'm completely lovey-dovey for him again. Faith wasn't my all time favorite heroines either but I still loved this story *sigh*

  14. I think this is where I stopped in the series. Judging from your review and the comments maybe I should try again...

  15. Lori
My friend has totally crazy over Singh and bought all her books :) She sure loves it

Judd is getting all the loving in this thread, I seriously want to read it right now!

  16. I have not read this authors yet - I know some missles are probably aiming at me for this statement...
