Magic Binds - Ilona Andrews

Mercenary Kate Daniels knows all too well that magic in post-Shift Atlanta is a dangerous business. But nothing she’s faced could have prepared her for this...

Kate and the former Beast Lord Curran Lennart are finally making their relationship official. But there are some steep obstacles standing in the way of their walk to the altar.

Kate’s father, Roland, has kidnapped the demigod Saiman and is slowly bleeding him dry in a never-ending bid for power. A Witch Oracle has predicted that if Kate marries the man she loves, Atlanta will burn and she will lose him forever. And the only person Kate can ask for help is long dead.

The odds are impossible. The future is grim. But Kate Daniels has never been one to play by the rules…

My thoughts:
What can I say, it's book 9 after all. We all know Kate is totally kick-ass, and I do like her darker side. It shows more now. Her father's legacy is hanging like a sword over her. The power of magic is influencing her. And she did claim Atlanta, not an easy thing to live with. But I like all that, she is struggling without even realising it all times.

This book is sort of a filler and sort of not. The peace between her and Roland is not an easy one. And now he has kidnapped Saiman (oh and there is thing happening and I am so curious about how that will impact things, but hey I can not say a word.)

And of course the wedding date of her and Curran is coming closer, but then there is that whole Atlanta will burn and you will all die thing if that happens.

Conclusion:
I enjoyed the ride. I liked her dealing with her legacy. I even grew to like Julie (we have had our ups and downs). I liked to learn more about her family. But...I also wished more had happened. I want a big showdown soon.

  1. Hahaha at your Curran looking serene comment. He sure does. I'm so behind on this series. I think the last I read was book 5 but I loved all the books and totally need to read the rest already. This author duo is so great!

  2. I don't know why but I haven't picked this one up yet. I think because it was super expensive on Kindle when it first came out.

  12. Yes, her dark side was an intriguing character study in this one and those wedding prep and Roman coordinating. I laughed so hard a few times. The thing with her father is definitely coming closer to a conflict and I'm dying to know how that goes down.
