TMST: Changing reading habits

Tell Me Something Tuesday is a weekly discussion post on Rainy Day Ramblings where Rainy discuss a wide range of topics from books to blogging. Weigh in and join the conversation by adding your thoughts in the comments. If you want to do your own post, grab the question and answer it on your blog.

July 24th: How have your reading habits changed since you started blogging?

Let me think. Well to begin with I do not visit the library as often, but then again I borrow books I really want to read now. As before I came home with a million.

I buy more books (and trust me, I do not buy a lot. Most of my books I get SO to give me at bdays and xmas). Or is it that I buy better books? Before I bought at sales, and well most were crap anyway. SO yes I read better books here too.

I started reading ebooks, but that is cos they were not exactly big before I started blogging 10 years ago. And no e-readers in sight here.

I started listening to audio...OBVIOUSLY ;)

I branched out to more genres, but that again has to do with what I could get before. The library did not have pnr, uf and all that jazz before. Now they do. But then, nope. I mostly read fantasy, fiction and chic-lit. Now I love UF, sci-fi has found its place and omg so much more. Subgenres and you name it!

Did I start reading more? I think so. I always read a lot, but when I look back I red a lot of books that I might have thought just ok or meh. But I finished them anyway. Then I started blogging and realised that there are SO many books out there. I gotta cut out the crap! I started finding better books and reading more and faster when I did not slug through bad ones.

I also wrote a lot before which took a lot of my reading time. I do miss that. My fantasy world, sigh. They never got a happy ending. Instead I just left everyone scattered through out the world with a war approaching...

What did I realise then? That I now read better books and more :D

  1. I think for me, blogging and more than that, meeting other bloggers, opened my eyes to new authors, new genres, and audiobooks. I do read more but that isn't because of blogging - rather the other way around. I started blogging when I started reading again.

    *hugs* to S and L!

  2. Blogging has changed my reading habits too. I rarely go to the library and find that I avoid big books now. I think I read a wider range of genres these days.

  3. Love the pic f Baby S and Lucie. Do they get along now that she's older?

I forgot about e-books. Part of reading more is that it exist now like you said - but that's where most of the arc's come from too.

  4. Another adorable picture.

I only read what I want these days. I used to read what was trending or what others wanted a review for but not anymore.

  6. Better books and more is good! I think reading habits of all of us change for reasons you mention above and what is going on in our world too. Libraries have got way more advanced over time and big smile for that.

  7. I think that I tend to pick books I am going to like a little easier now. I still try to overload myself with books but I tend to like what I read.

  9. Your comment about reading better books made me think. I definitely get to read more books and in more genres and sub-genres, but I also read a lot of meh ones because I'm willing to try ones I wouldn't before now.
Glad your library and audios and ebooks have given you ever so many more books to love these days.

  10. I think blogging has got me taking closer notice of each book as I am reading it. I now make mental notes of aspects to include in my reviews - although actually writing those notes down would be far more useful

  11. Yes, I read a lot of crap and slogged through a lot of bad books. Now days, I am much more discerning and I don’t waste my time on books that I am not enjoying. I actually buy way less books these days because I get so much from the library and I still have so many ARCs, why buy books that I won’t read?
