Now that the threat of war has passed, Sabina Kane is ready to focus on the future. Her relationship with Adam Lazarus is getting stronger and she's helping her sister, Maisie, overcome the trauma of her captivity in New Orleans. Even Giguhl is managing to stay out of trouble thanks to the arrival of Pussy Willow and his new roller derby team. But as much as Sabina wants to feel hopeful about the future, part of her doesn't trust that peace is possible.

Her suspicions are confirmed when a string of sadistic murders threaten to stall treaty negotiations between the mages and the vampires. Sabina pitches in to find the killer, but her investigation soon leads her down dark paths that have her questioning everyone she thought she could trust. And the closer she gets to the killer, the more Sabina begins to suspect this is one foe she may not be able to kill.

My thoughts:

If I did not like this series I would totally have said the book was meh, and now I wonder, I want to give it a good grade, but I am frustrated.... Still if I did not have book 5 I would have let it go. I would have wanted to read the next just to see even if annoyed me and last but not jumped at it. As it was I DID have book 5 so I DID jump at it. I just wanted to end the series and see what happens. Just get rid of it.

Cos it struggled, nothing happened and it never built up to anything. Book 3 had the same issues, but there is suddenly got so good I could not put it down at the end. Here it just stagnated.

So please let the last book be awesome again, cos else I will be left hanging with the meh feeling and that does not bode well for wanting her new series.

Ok, and I am still disappointed.

Sabina sets out for Italy with her friends, Giguhl and Adam Lazarus, to track down the only man who can get her the revenge she hungers for. But will he help her or oppose her? And just who is Abel, really? Worst of all, when Sabina figures out the goddess Lilith has a plan for her-she realizes this trip is getting deadlier by the minute. 

As they say: when in Rome-SURVIVE.

My thoughts:

I think one word to sum this up would be disappointment. Sure at times it was a 3 but mostly it was just ok.

I had problems with the dialogue and just general stuff. I mean freaking Lilith! I would expect her not to talk like everyone else, same with Asmodeous. It was all too haha mum and dad in hell. So scary...not!

Sabina, whatever, running around like a headless chicken.

Adam has no balls.

Gighul stopped being funny in book 3.

Even Maisie being dead made me roll my eyes.

I wished I had only gotten book 3 and given up, instead of getting them all and not other books. So now I am angry about that too. I spent money on books that sucked.

So no, I do not recommend this series.

The clock is ticking for Sabina Kane. Her sister has been kidnapped by her grandmother, the Dark Races are on the brink of war, and a mysterious order is manipulating everyone behind the scenes.

Working on information provided by an unlikely ally, Sabina and her trusty sidekicks--a sexy mage named Adam Lazarus and Giguhl, a Mischief demon--head to New Orleans to begin the hunt for her sister. Once there, they must contend with belligerent werewolves, magic-wielding vampires and--perhaps most frightening of all--humans.

But as much as Sabina is focused on surviving the present, the past won't be ignored. Before she can save those she cares about most, she must save herself from the ghosts of her past.

My thoughts:

The beginning was a bit meh, maybe I was not in the mood, maybe it was just slow. But it picked up and I was glad it did. Cos else...SO not good.

Sabina needs to save her sister. She takes her demon sidekick with her, and her sexy "friend" Adam (they both want more). Off to save Maisie in New Orleans. Which means vampires, weres, mages and sinister things, and voodoo. 

Right so slow at first but then suddenly (even if it took a long time), it picked up and I had to finish it the same evening. I just had to. Cos I learned of something and ohhhh I need to know more!

Conclusion:

Off to read the next one then.

PS. Sorry to tease you with that *insert music of doom* thing, I had another plan, but oh well, you must wait for the music of doom thing.

The mage in black - Jaye Wells

Sabina Kane doesn't have the best track record when it comes to family. After all, her own grandmother, the leader of the vampire race, just tried to kill her. When she arrives in New York to meet the mage side of her family, the reunion takes the fun out of dysfunctional. 

On top of that, the Hekate Council wants to use her as a pawn in the brewing war against the vampires. Her mission will take her into the bowels of New York's Black Light district, entangles her in mage politics, and challenges her beliefs about the race she was raised to distrust. And Sabina thought vampires were bloodthirsty.

My thoughts:

Ok so you all know about middle book/second book syndrome...well this book was actually better than book 1 *high fives self*.

I hope the rest of the series will be good too cos as it is now it's cool, kick-ass and did I say cool? Oh I did, well it was ;)

Sabina is...arghh ok I will not say the word again. Kick-ass (oh B you are so original). In the last book she left LA, cos that is what you should do when you gran tries to stake you, the evil vampire bitch she is. So Sabina tries her luck with the mage side of the family.

There we meet her twin sister. New people...nuff said. Her pet demon, yay, and of course Adam whom she likes.

There are fights, prophecies, assassins and a cliffhanger ending that makes me want book 3 at once.

Conclusion:

I like it.

Review: Red-headed stepchild - Jaye Wells

My thoughts:

Oh no, I fell for another series. Great now I gotta catch up on my 100th series ;) Lol, no, it's all good, I do love finding a new UF series and especially one already out cos now I do not have to wait ages for more. There are already more out.

Sabina was a kick-ass assassin, a halfblood vampire, second class citizen, even though her grandma is a hotshot. But then her gran was an ass. And the whole concept builds learning who to trust. And that is not easy.

In comes a cool side-kick, thumbs up for him. A stalking mage that sounded cute, a dark cult leader who makes, oh I am not gonna say. And a conspiracy to bring everything down.

It was a nice world too with vamps, demons, mages and fairies. And I so need to know more about Sabina, because things are hidden in the shadows and I am curious.

Conclusion:

A nice start to this UF series.
