ARC Review: Alien in the House - Gini Koch

Jeff and Kitty Katt-Martini have learned the ins and outs of Washington politics, not to mention how to prevail in intergalactic war and foil dangerous plots. But, in the aftermath of Operation Destruction, the Gower girls’ powers are burned out, the entire A-C population has been “outed” as the aliens living on Earth that they are, and, worst of all, ACE is nowhere to be found.

Then murder and mayhem are served up at an important dinner party at the American Centaurion Embassy, and when the dust settles Alpha Team and the Diplomatic Corps have more problems than just a dead Congressman. Is there a single criminal mastermind—or multiple enemies—behind all the conspiracies that want Kitty dead and the A-Cs gone or co-opted to become the War Division?

My thoughts:
How does she do it? The craziness that must be Koch's brain, I just never know with this series. Who is the bad guy? How will it end, how will anything happen? But then that is why it's a fun ride.

So what did happen? Well Kitty is trying to find out why people are dying left and right. With her she has poofs, birds and the usual gang, and of course she makes new friends.

There is drama, shootings, death, smexy times, politics, wedding plans and a birthday party for Jamie to plan. Just another normal day in the life of Kitty Katt.

So this review was much better before I accidentally deleted it. Now I do not know what to say. Koch is just insane, all the plot threads here and there. I always wonder how she keeps track of things so that we in the end can find a murderer.

Conclusion:
Another fun adventure, and as always crazy in the best way.

Cover:
I like and dislike it. I like it cos it's cool, I dislike it cos you can't see the tiny pics if you just browse by.

Review: The Sisterhood - Helen Bryan

The Sisterhood is a story that covers many centuries. Not only is it in present time. You also get glimpses of the 1980’s as well as the 16th century.

Menina has always known she is adopted. She was found as an orphan after a terrible storm in South America in the 1980’s and brought to a convent. After a while she got adopted by a couple in the USA. The convent made sure Menina’s parents would give a medal that Menina was found wearing around her neck, and an old book written in Spanish and Latin, to Menina when she was old enough.

Menina is planning her wedding to a young man called Theo. But when the engagement is broken shortly before the wedding, Menina is very sad and wants to get away from everything. For school she is going to write a paper about an old Spanish painter and she gets an opportunity to travel to Spain to find out more about the painter and how his works are connected to her medal.

Her trip in Spain doesn’t start well when her money and her mobile phone among other things get stolen and she misses her bus to Madrid. She ends up at an old convent and there her work begins.

Parallell to the story of Menina is the story from the 16th century. It’s about how the book that Menina got was written and how it and the medal had to be sent to South America in order to save it. It’s about what happened at the convent in the 16th century and what happened to the book when it got to South America. The book was hidden for centuries but found shortly after Menina had been brought to the convent in the 1980’s.

It’s a very thrilling book, interesting to read. I really enjoyed it. I would recommend it to those who are interested in reading about 16th century convents and anyone who loves a mystery.

I give the book 4/5.

Review: Black Lament - Christina Henry

Devastated and grieving, Maddy unexpectedly finds hope with the discovery that she is pregnant. But Maddy’s joy is short lived when Lucifer informs her that he wants the baby, hoping to draw on the combined power of two of his bloodlines. Maddy is determined that her grandfather will never have her child, but she’s not sure what she can do to stop him.

Being pregnant is stressful enough, but Maddy suddenly finds herself at odds with the Agency—forbidden from meddling in the affairs of the supernatural courts. When a few of her soul collections go awry, Maddy begins to suspect that the Agency wants to terminate her employment. They should know by now that she isn’t the sort to give up without a fight…

My thoughts:
Wow Madeleine is just crazy kick-ass, she always was but now, ha, kick-ass beyond everything. But that is why she is fun to read about, she rushes into a situation, tries to kill someone (does kill someone) and often end up mortally wounded. She is not stupid, she is just, let's get this S#¤t done!!

And of course after the true evilness! after book 3 I was dying to read this one. Gabriel was killed..killed and I was all wtf?! Not to mention Maddy is preggers and Lucifer could not be happier. But then I like good old Lucifer cos he is so cool and let her deal with all his troubles. But Maddy is trying to come to terms with her loss and she has a lot on her plates. The Agency is pretty tired of her, the fairies is pretty pissed at her and do not forget good old dad who wants to kill her.

Conclusion:
There will be lots of fighting and good humour. This series is just so easy to read, it's light, while being dark. I do enjoy it.

Review: Steel's Edge - Ilona Andrews

Charlotte de Ney is as noble as they come, a blueblood straight out of the Weird. But even though she possesses rare magical healing abilities, her life has brought her nothing but pain. After her marriage crumbles, she flees to the Edge to build a new home for herself. Until Richard Mar is brought to her for treatment, and Charlotte’s life is turned upside down once again.

Richard is a swordsman without peer, future head of his large and rambunctious Edger clan—and he’s on a clandestine quest to wipe out slavers trafficking humans in the Weird. So when his presence leads his very dangerous enemies to Charlotte, she vows to help Richard destroy them. The slavers’ operation, however, goes deeper than Richard knows, and even working together, Charlotte and Richard may not survive...

My thoughts:
I have said it before, but it's just that the rest of the series was nit as good as book 1. That one was fresh and cool. It's not as the rest was not good, they were, just not as good.

Oh and now I am also a bit sad. I read that it said end of series. What? I think George and Sophie totally should get a book. Now I am disappointed to see the world go. Yes I am never happy.

Anyway. It's a about a Weird Healer and Richard Mar who met in previous books. Edger raised and now known as the Hunter. Together they hunt down some slavers. He is all calm and cool. And so is she, as she was raised to Nobility she had to be. Nothing can touch her. I did like her, and him and I guess they fitted together.

We also meet Jack and George again, yay. There is fighting, death, and a few surprises. A good whatever this genre is. Rustic fantasy she calls it, lol.
