Here we go:
Honestly, it's too hard to write a review of a book that I have read many times, of a series that I have read many times. I am so used to the books, the characters are old friends. I can't present them properly...
But ok, Rand, poor Rand he is so crazy. When exactly did I start to fall for him before? Cos no he is just insane the poor boy as he flees from everyone.
Then we have Mat, I never really liked Mat but this time around it's different. I like him, and that glimmer of mischief in his eyes. Of course that happened in this book as in previous books he has been insane like Rand.
Then we have Perrin, the first time around I never liked him, I wonder why cos there is nothing wrong with Perrin. He talks to wolves and here he finds he true love.
The women, no honestly I just can't like them any time around. Egwene, Elayne and Nynavene get intro trouble, tug on their braids and think about men. They are just no fun, or is it that Tar Valon is boring? Might be. Oh and speaking about Tar Valon. Ever since someone mentioned it on a forum all I see when I look at a map of the city is a certain female....just go look (I blame a certain forum for getting that idea into my head.)
Luckily no Seanchan or many White Cloaks as you know, I hate those bastards.
The Aiel show up, always did like them.
Dark friends and evil beings are hunting our lead characters and even though I have read this book before I could not put it down at times.
PS. It seemed people though that Rand is a dragon last time, no no, he is just called THE Dragon. There are no dragons.

And what do I have to finish with..

The place where I snark about the cover:
HAHA. Honestly what are they wearing? And look at Rand lol
The map of the city looks like certain parts of the female anatomy? Or did I totally misinterpret your meaning there? Now I'm all perversely curious...
ReplyDeleteLol, you are correct. And when I google my name that darn forum post shows up every time. I should link a pic to it
DeleteBetween you and Kayvan I am going to want to start this series up again. :)
ReplyDeleteI think I just might later this year!
I love these books :)
You really should start this series. You must listen to those who know ;)
DeleteI wonder if the publisher will update the covers. I think it will help with new readers in trying this series out.
ReplyDeleteThe e-books have very cool and updated covers. As for these, honestly they still suck even with the newer covers
DeleteCovers on old fantasy and scifi books... *shakes head*
ReplyDeleteThat reminds me that I should go and visit that..something Sir site, he has the best funny covers
DeleteI really should re-read these! Never really liked Perrin but can't say why. I actually don't have problems with the women, mostly. And Moiraine is the best :D
ReplyDeleteI did not like him either the first time around, but this time, yes I sure do. It' Rand who suffers now
DeleteI always liked Rand and Perrin myself Mat, not so much. Nynaeve I always loved as a character. Elayne I am indifferent about. Egwene is someone I have always disliked. And I agree that the Aiel are great!
ReplyDeleteIt's funny how things change for me. But yes Elayne, indifferent. Egwene, no I just can't like her. Nynaeve took some time but I got there :)
DeleteYea the cover is a bit 70s...
ReplyDeleteI so need to delve into his books. *sigh*
It makes me lol and trust me they do not get better ;)
DeleteBad female characters are such a huge drawback for me that I might leave that series untouched after all :).
ReplyDeleteIt's not that they are bad. they just do not interest me. I did start to like Nynaeve and I always liked Berelain cos she is a maneater
DeleteActually, that is the best thing that you could about a book, that you can read it many times and still enjoy it!
ReplyDeleteSo true :D And I never get tired of this series
DeleteThe women tug on their braids and think about men every time they get into trouble? I wouldn’t like them either!
ReplyDeleteThey tug them when they are annoyed and when they are in trouble they do fight
Delete*sigh*.... I so need to get to this series. I seriously need to block out like a year of reading for this series. ;D I think I might enjoy it. THank you!!
ReplyDeleteYou know you could read one a week and then after 13 weeks you have read them and will just have to wait for book 14 ;)
DeleteSounds like a great series.
ReplyDeleteIt sure is :D
DeleteNot my genre but I love your enthusiasm!
ReplyDeleteI do love this genre :)
DeleteI love this series so much, so not going to look at that website you want me to go to ;) I also hate those white cloak people. But I do like all the main characters even the women. Even though they are sometimes too bossy.
ReplyDeleteIt's just me ;) The first time around it might have been the translation cos I find myself liking different people now.
DeleteWhite cloaks arghh!!!!!! hate hate hate them
You are giving me inspiration for taking this series down from my shelves and reading them again.
ReplyDeleteYou really should you know ;)
DeleteI only read this book once and that was donkeys years ago. I plan on re-reading them all again when the last book comes out :)
ReplyDeleteThat's less than a year away now ;)
DeleteIt's great when you can love a series so much. That cover is great! So vintage.
